From the New York Times best-selling author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Last Summer (of You and Me) comes an imaginative, inspired, magical book - a love story that lasts more than a lifetime.
Daniel has spent centuries falling in love with the same girl. Life after life, crossing continents and dynasties, he and Sophia (despite her changing name and form) have been drawn together - and he remembers it all. Daniel has "the memory", the ability to recall past lives and recognize souls of those he's previously known. It is a gift and a curse. For all the times that he and Sophia have been drawn together throughout history, they have also been torn painfully, fatally, apart. A love always too short.
Interwoven through Sophia and Daniel's unfolding present-day relationship are glimpses of their expansive history together.
From 552 Asia Minor to 1918 England and 1972 Virginia, the two souls share a long and sometimes torturous path of seeking each other time and time again. But just when young Sophia (now "Lucy" in the present) finally begins to awaken to the secret of their shared past, to understand the true reason for the strength of their attraction, the mysterious force that has always torn them apart reappears. Ultimately, they must come to understand what stands in the way of their love if they are ever to spend a lifetime together.
A magical, suspenseful, heartbreaking story of true love, My Name is Memory proves the power and endurance of a union that was meant to be.

"I LIke this book"
If you enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife and books in that vein, you may enjoy this book. I really liked it. I think I will listen to it more than once.
"Half good, half disappointing"
I thought this book was going to be really great. The first half was quite good, but then it just fell apart. And, the ending was very unsatisfying. I read one review that said that the end was a setup for a sequel. Now that I've finished it, I agree. I also think the author (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) also might have had a movie in mind. It was too bad because the premise was really interesting to me (reincarnation).
"My Name is Memory (Unabridged)"
I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of detail and brought you right into the story. It made you feel the feelings in the book. The test of a good writer. It is definately a love story. The ending certainly left the possibility for a sequel. I hope and look forward to a sequel. This a combination of "Time Traveler's Wife" and "The Outlander." As Ann Barshares matures in her writings of Adult Novels, I think she will become one of my favorite authors. I hope she sticks with including lots of details in her stories and takes the time needed to produce quality novels. Many authors are mass producting novels that are short, fast reads, but miss the richness or substance of this novel. I look forward to reading more of her books.
"DONT READ UNTIL THE SEQUEL COMES OUT!!!"
I am one of those readers that enjoys a little cliffhanger at the end of a book if there is going to be a sequel(s). However, when I bought this book, I did not realize it was going to be a series. The story is great and I love the whole idea, but the ending really threw me off. I went to the authors website to see when the planned sequel was going to be released and there is nothing! She mentions wanting to write book 2 but there are no plans to right now. You have got to be kidding me!! The ending was the worst cliffhanger I have ever read and there is no planned sequel?!?!? No way lady...My advice to all listeners is pass this one by, wait for the "not planned" sequel first because this book has no ending. I would never have listened to it if I knew it ended like this!
"Anxiously awaiting the next book."
Interesting. Different. Gripping.
I've actually never really read a book like Memory, which is probably why I'm anticipating the next book.
Kathe has a way of bring life to the story as she reads it. It's just really amazing!
YES!! Most definitely.
Tell us about yourself! Love to read but don't get to do enough of it. On the road a good bit.... that's when I listen!
"Ending......"
Interesting story.... to say the least. Some of the back n forth got long for my attention span, but by the later chapters I couldn't stop listening!
The ending..... seriously left me hanging on.

"This book was pretty good until...."
....the VERY frustrating ending. I was ready for it to be wrapped up nice and tight....no strings....just a good romantic jaunt thru time and history.....BUT.......with 15 mins. to go until the end there is still a huge obstical to overcome and I knew this wouldn't happen.....so how does it end....UGH......a setup for a sequel with no mention in sight if that will ever happen......I HATE that.....such a letdown for a great premise of a book.

"I got pulled in, despite my resistance"
This is not the type of book I normally read. In fact, I never would have touched it except it was picked by a friend for our book club, so I was bound to listen.
I'm not really a fan of reincarnation stories, or love stories that are woven into reincarnation stories, but if you are, you will enjoy this book. Even I, despite my dislike of the genre and the subject matter, found myself hooked at one point, lured by the different landscapes and time periods if not for the love story.
The book ends with a loose end; my friend says that's because another book is coming (or probably has come by this point). Not sure I will pick it up, but if this sort of book is for you, you will probably be happy to know it looks like it will be a series of some sort.

"An Entertaining Love Story"
In the first minutes of this book I didn't have any hope for it; I thought it was another easy romance. When you really connect to the story and you start imagining their worlds and phases ... it blows your mind. This is a truly wonderful novel; if you really try to understand their point of view you will be amazed. Give it a try!
I can listen to it more than 2 times and I don't get bored, because it has some suspense and drama in it. I'm waiting for the sequel as it is supposed to be a trilogy. Thumbs up!
"Beautiful and entertaining"
When I first downloaded this audio book I was expecting a reincarnation story similar to other stories, instead; I soon learned it was a reincarnation story with a "twist" - A love story. I must admit I'm not into this type of books but it was so beautifully written, so well narrated that I found myself lost in it. I truly enjoyed this book, the story was well put together, although; somewhat long. I recommend this book to everyone, it is not a "mushy" love story is love persevering through the gates of time. I promise you won't be disappointed.
