"Content & Technicalities: Both Poor"
The editing really is terrible.
The editing really is terrible.
See how annoying that was to read the same sentence twice? Now try listening to the same sentence twice... quite often. Come on.
The content was fluffy (not bad) and tried for amusing, but instead the protagonist acts so stupidly it's really not fun to listen to. You sort of want to shake her and then get her into AA. And I'm someone who likes to drink - which I had to do alot of after reading this just to forget it.
"Sloppy editing"
Never listened to an audiobook before where passages are repeated, you can hear the reader sigh when she gets something wrong etc.! The story is relatively entertaining, though.
"quick and enjoyable"
This was a pretty good listen as far as chic-lit goes. The narrator was wonderful and the story was predictable but still fun.
I hope it has been mislabeled as unabridged, because there are definitely parts missing. I think this is a technical problem as opposed to the quality of the writing, if not she has a really crap editor. You can still follow the story, but there are obvious scenes missing, like the makeover and a sex scene referred to many times.
Even though there was this problem I still loved the main character. I'll probably download the sequel and just hope that it contains the whole book.
"Story OK but annoying to listen to"
I already listened to I Heart Vegas so I decided to download the first book....should have read everyone's reviews first. I've never listen to an abridged version where they cut out so many major parts where they mention it later and you think, "wait, when did that happen?". Plus Its like the didn't finish editing! The reader repeated the same sentence twice many times during the book, obviously where they needed to cut what she said the first time but didn't. It reminded me of when records used to get stick on a word.
"Too many gaps"
Although I realize this is an abridged version of the story, there are huge sections of the book missing that disrupt continuity. There are also many instances where the narrator stumbles and/or completely repeats a section. Perhaps a result of poor editing, however this should never have passed quality control. This is the first Audible download I've been disappointed with.
