The Complete Idiot's Guide to French, Level 4

I found these "Idiot's Guides" to be pretty good. They are especially useful if you already know some French. The dialogues are more real to life situations than other programs I've listened too. To make the best use of them download the PDF that are provided on Audible.com and follow along as you are listening.

I looked at the pdf file available for download with this title before I bought it. One caveat if you do the same: the pdf explains the ingenious design of the audio program, which allows you to listen to both French and English versions of dialogs and phrases (one after the other) or only one of the languages--this by using the balance control to switch to left or right only. This would be a great way to switch off the English (recorded only on one channel) once you understand the audio, but just want to to repeat and repeat the French. Unfortunately, the file is mono, so you can never cast away this crutch as the authors intended! I though the sample might be mone, but the download stereo--now I know otherwise. It's a real shame, IMO, and owing to this, this book isn't significantly different from other language products in terms of its design (as is claimed in blurb, e.g. "learn in half the time"). STILL, that there is are text files at all does distinguish these titles from others and is definitely valuable.
