In Susie Bright's own contribution, "Story of O Birthday Party", she recounts her lover's elaborately orchestrated birthday gift: a re-creation of Pauline Réage's classic S/M tale with Susie at the center of the action.
Joe Maynard enters a love/hate relationship with a two-million-dollar sex toy in "Fleshlight".
Greta Christina's "Are We Having Sex Now or What?" asks the provocative question: What defines authentic sexual connection and experience?
Thoroughly electrifying - and thrillingly eclectic - the 2008 edition promises to open new doors with its exhilarating, equal-opportunity approach to erotic writing. Straight or gay, dominant or submissive, romantic or sadistic, Bright's selections run the gamut - and push all the right buttons.

"[Susie Bright is] the avatar of American erotica." (The New York Times)
"I'm sure the stories would read brilliantly from the page, but I dramatically prefer to have BAE the audiobook poured into my ear in narrative form....[H]earing these stories spoken infuses them with something tangibily more personal, thus more captivating. And more alluring." (The Geek Prospectus blog)
"Definitely pushes the envelope"
The stories in this collection attempt to go beyond the standard Tab A/Slot B clinical porn which too often gets classified as "erotic." Although not all the stories were to my taste, and indeed there were a couple I didn't finish listening to, I applaud the authors and Ms. Bright for attempting to raise the genre to the level of art.
"I wish I had read the reviews first!"
I am afraid I am with the others before me, this one is not worthy... I'll admit that I didn't make it all the way through, but at better than 75% it was obvious to me that it was not quality writing and it couldn't be salvaged in the last few stories ... Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!
"All the same stories"
I wish the reviews and description of this book had mentioned that approx. 90% of the stories in it were of a lesbian nature. I would have appreciated a more balanced mix of stories. Will not purchase again.
"Not bad..."
As a dedicated erotica enthusiast, I have to admit there are few stories that really tickle my fancy. This had a couple, and I listened to the others - even though some were not to my taste at all. Decent narration and decent stories, but nothing earth-shattering :)
"The Best American Erotica 2008"
It's not for the weak at hart, but it is very entertaining and very erotic.
"Bad..Bad.. Really,Really Bad"
PLEASE, Don't waste your time or credit on this selection. If Ms.Bright calls this erotica then it is time for her to step aside. Most at best fit into Sci-Fi Fantasy or comedy.
"Unique and different"
This book is akin to other "best of" series. However it is not for the unadventurous. It has many stories which were not always "hot" but unusual or took people outside their comfort zone. This book is not for Prudes.
world traveler, on the move, creating, really enjoying hand free books!
"I love short stories!"
Some of the performances weren't the best but not bad. The stories were entertaining and well written.
Appreciate Audibles many different books and l like to try new things out. Love a good story - in real life or in books. Live in Denmark, Europe.
"It's up to you!"
Maybe you like the stories.. not all of them are good. "The Program" by G. Bonhomme is absolutly wonderful and funny.
