"Winget's advice is solid." (Publishers Weekly)
"Take it with a grain of salt"
Larry Winget is a very entertaining speaker. He tells us so. Much of his wisdom rings true. His opinions are provocative. But they are just his opinions - again he tells us so. The book is not a prescription for living - that fact makes the book better. The book lagged in the middle - but ended with a flourish. It was a breeze to listen to it over the course of two days. Two thumbs up.
"Just do the work GOOD STUFF"
Chapter 11 How to absolutely destroy the competition - I read this chapter first, and you should to. Whether you are an owner, manager, executive, VP, salesperson, janitor or president of your company you will miss out by not reading this book
I have worked in major corporations and I've been self employed, this book applies to anyone who is business today.
No one delivers like Larry Winget.
I have listened to a lot of great speakers and read great authors, but none have got more results out of me than Larry.
Nobody but you is to blame but yourself for not buying "It's Called Work for a Reason."
Don't just buy it, read it and apply the principles. It really is that simple.
One more thing, get ready for Larry's sense of humor, it is entertaining.
"mandatory reading!"
This should be mandatory reading for any new employees and managers of ANY job! Larry is very entertaining and funny to listen to - and he gives it to you straight! This book made me look at my own behaviors at work and evaluate ways to improve myself. Definitely worth the money!
"WOW!"
This audiobook has made an impression on myself, my boyfriend and my coworkers. Humor is a wonderful thing and it helped the harsher points go down a little easier.
The "mirror technique" is not going to fly with everyone but for me, it is totally empowering to take personal responsibility for what I want to change.
"It's my own damn fault and I'm going to fix it" is my new motto.
"You can't handle the truth!"
Larry tells it the way it is... very in your face and confrontational!
I highly recommend this audio book. It will inspire you to do better. The truth hurts - but it's for your own good.
Buy this audio book now! You won't regret it!
I am a creative, brainstorming genius! Ok maybe not a genius... but close! I am an avid runner, marathoner and student of exceptional living!
"Wonderful book!"
This book should be required reading/listening for all employees, business owners and recent graduates. It is to the point, and really hits home. We are requiring all our employees to listen to this book and I am encouraging my nephew, who's graduating from high school this month to read it too. Definately worth the $$$.
"In your face!"
This is an excellent irritative book. It is a must read for anyone who has a get it done approach or anyone who is just plain lazy looking for a catalyst to change. Every manager should read this one! It should be required reading for the MBA programs! This is a common-sense, responsible, results oriented approach to people and the work ethic. It presents a realistic view of the employer/employee relationship. It deserves a periodic re-read as well. Enjoy!!
"Good Points, Annoying Narrator"
I found the information in this book helpful and some good tips, but I almost couldn't make it through the book because of the narration. I felt like I was being yelled at... maybe that was the point.
"Not that good"
I will say, this book is more realistic and helpful than much of the new-age stuff that just keeps pushing people to be more neurotic and obsessively worried about being too nice to each other, but not a lot better.
I got too tired of listening to what he was trying to sell me to make his living to finish the book. Luckily I'm a member and can refund this one... He had some good points, but not enough.
