Publisher's Summary

Rebecca Bloomwood just hit rock bottom. But she's never looked better...

Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford it - not any of it.

Her job writing at Successful Savings not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from Visa and the Endwich Bank - letters with large red sums she can't bear to read - and they're getting ever harder to ignore.

She tries cutting back; she even tries making more money. But none of her efforts succeeds. Becky's only consolation is to buy herself something...just a little something...

Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life - and the lives of those around her - forever.

Sophie Kinsella has brilliantly tapped into our collective consumer conscience to deliver a novel of our times - and a heroine who grows stronger every time she weakens. Becky Bloomwood's hilarious schemes to pay back her debts are as endearing as they are desperate. Her "confessions" are the perfect pick-me-up when life is hanging in the (bank) balance.

This book is also known as The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic.

    "shopaholic fun fun fun"

This is an amazingly funny book, I had tears coming down my face from laughing so hard. Mainly because I find myself doing the same types of things that the wonderful charachter Becky Bloomwood does to get out of debt. Positively fabulous! If you thought Bridget Jones' Diary was funny, wait until you read/hear Shopaholic.

    Enjoy.

    "cute for a while"

I typically enjoy Sophie Kinsella books BUT this one took it's toll on me after several chapters. I just felt that Becky Bloomwood was a pathological liar after ALL she did was LIE about EVERYTHING.. I am almost done listening to this audio book so hope in the end she learns a lesson and changes her ways.

    "Not so much!"

I really had high hopes for this book but I felt that the protagonist was very dull and shallow. The only reason I give it two stars is because of the short romantic scene, otherwise this was a bitter disappointment. I planned to get the other shopaholic books but thought better of it.

    "What a fun read!"

I am not into Chick Lit, but this book was great. The book is quirky, fresh, fun, humorous and has great characters. Emily Gray, the narrator, did an amazing job too. She really got the voice of our main character Becky down perfect. I would definitely recommend this book.

    "Not my cup of tea."

Don't get me wrong, I actually like most of Sophie Kinsella's novels--just not this one. Kudos to the reader, who did an excellent job. I'm afraid, however, that this book and I were never exactly meant to be friends--although I did try.

    "Cute & Funny!"

I picked this book up after seeing it in the bookstore and thinking the title sounded fun (and I liked the artwork on the bookcover). I truly enjoyed this book! It was an easy listen and kept me laughing. Yes, some would say it is all about a girl and her shopping addiction and why can't she control herself, but that is what makes it funny! Also, the narrator for this series does a great job!

Excellent - entertaining and funny. Really enjoyed it. If you are familiar with London its even better as it mentions a lot of well known tourist spots and shops.

    "Great fun!"

I had never heard of, much less read the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella. But after reading other reviews I decided to give it a try. I was extremely glad I did. Excellent story line, outstanding reader (Linda Gray), and much less predictable than I would have imagined. This is a definite "laugh out loud in traffic" title.

    "Long and Annoying"

I found myself wanting to strangle the character. I felt like the story was just a list of all the things she bought while shopping. I expected it to have a lot more plot development. The end of the book did finally get a little more interesting and made me curious about the sequel.
