"What a wonderful book!"
I so enjoyed listenting to this book!! The story is well written, and keeps you wanting more with every chapter. It reminds you that every elderly person was once your age and that they have stories to tell. Take time to talk with your elders, you just might be amazed by what they have to say!!

"Loved it"
This was one of the sweetest most enjoyable books I have listened to in a long time. The narration was wonderful, the story enchanting. I truly didnt want it to end. This isnt a "deep book" by any means, rather a "feel good" story.
"not as enamored as other reviewers"
I didn't find this so predictable or superficial as to fail to complete it, but it did not grab me. I bought it based on other reviews, and want to suggest that it's not a hugely literary read, imho.
"Very 1950's Italian American"
A good read. Gives good details about 1940's and 50's Italian Americans. Most of the story was very predictable, but the end had a nice surprise.
I liked Roccoco better.
"Wonderful!"
This is by far the best audiobook I've ever heard. The story is great, the characters are super, and the narration couldn't be better. Being of Italian descent, I often found myself nodding at the oh-so-typical reactions and comments described by the author via her true-to-life characterizations. I even added my two cents worth aloud, in true Italian fashion! There's so much that's offered here, since the story is set at a time when people took real pride in their work, families were bound by loyalty, and old values/traditions still mattered. There's also an added bonus of a VERY authentic Sicilian sesame cookie recipe that's not to be missed! :)
"Lucia, Lucia"
This is the first book of Ms. Trigani I have read and have downloaded several since then. This book kept my interest and my imagination going as the characters came to life. I was sorry when it ended.
"One of the best"
Lucia Lucia is beautifully narrated and is hard to turn off. I didnt want it to end and yet I listened to it voraciously. It takes a bit to make me emotional, but this book really pulled at my heart strings. Listen to this book while taking a long walk, and you'll barely know you've exercised.
"Most excellent read"
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I normally listen to books while exercising or ironing. I was so enthralled with the story and didn't want to stop listening that I ended up doing all my ironing and my mother's as well.
The characters were excellent and the story line so interesting that I didn't want it to ever end. I'm off to look for more offerings by the author, but before that, I'll listen to it again just because I enjoyed it so much.
"Magical!"
I was so conflicted while listening to this book - I wanted to know what was going to happen next, but didn't want it to end! The writing was rich and compelling and the narrator was was soothing, lively and wonderful. The author did a wonderful job of describing scenes, allowing you to 'draw' them in your mind - I can still picture Lucia and her room after more than a month since I listened to this. The two friends I loaned it to both raved about the pictures they were able to 'draw' as well - without prompting! They loved it too!
"Wonderful in Every Way! Highly Recommended!"
Wonderful book! Cassandra Campbell did a marvelous job with the different characters (of which there were many). I am not of Italian descent nor have I ever been to Greenwich Village but I felt I was there! I would love to hear of Lucia's life from age 30 - 78 although I doubt those years could have been more interesting than the years covered in this book. I would recommend this to everyone! I have to stop listening to these books on my way to work - I always end up crying!!
