Publisher's Summary

A Book in the Home Series

Jake Owens, aggressive, physical, blunt and brave, is a football hero turned city cop. Nate Richardson, his best friend since before forever, is thoughtful, quiet, and kind, a brilliant doctor who has always known who he is and that Jake is the love of his life - and loyal, courageous, straight Jake has never had a clue.

But Jake has been nursing his own case of the unrequiteds, and he’s never been as straight as Nate assumes. Nate may think their passionate explosion is a fluke, a result of too much closeness for too long, but Jake is bound and determined to prove to him otherwise. For Jake, the question isn’t how they ended up in bed together.... It’s how can he convince Nate that he wants and needs to stay there.

    "Predictable, yet enjoyable..."

An interesting tale of one's inability to see what is in front of you. Jake and Nate are virtually bonded together since birth, yet still fail to realize some truths about one another. I am a fan of Sean Crisden and I think he did a great job, as usual. The Cardeno's story was good but a bit predictable...long in some parts and shorter in others. I felt as if there was a larger story to tell, specifically involving Jake, Jake's parents, and Nate but what do you do. All in all, a good, sappy romance, which I love. Worth the listen.

    Story
    "Love Going 'Home'"
What did you love best about Where He Ends and I Begin?

Love a sappy feelgood story with a lot of lust thrown in. I appreciated that there was a minimum amount of drama and genuine love between 2 friends,

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that Jake was not worried about anyone's opinion and that he was in your face with the fact that he protects what's his.

What does Sean Crisden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As much as I love Cardeno, I almost passed up buying the audio version. I'm not really a fan of Mr. Crisden's narration, but I thought I would take a chance and it paid off. I liked his charaterizations and he is much less wooden than I've heard him in other productions.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are so many moving moments, I just can't pick one.

    Any additional comments?

The production value of this audiobook leaves a bit to be desired. The narrative fades in and out in places throughout the story. It can be distracting.

"Where He Ends and I Begin: Home Series"
Where does Where He Ends and I Begin rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is a friend love story, which I like a lot.

What did you like best about this story?

Getting to know the characters and how they interacted.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Since there were only two characters that the story was about, they moved me.

    Any additional comments?

It is interesting how the author presented the the choices each guy made.

    "Weak Story"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Less sex and more storyline. This is a very weak plot. If you like to hear "I love you" "No, I love you" "You are my life" "No, you are my life" over and over again. You'll like this story. I love good romance, but geez!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Very predictable!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No.

"Cardeno C makes me long for a rent button"

OK we all love a guilty pleasure. my expectations for this book were relatively low and by the end i wish they had been lower by the end. The people have no real depth show no real growth and live in fairy tale land. Jake and Nate have known each other their whole lives and known they have loved each other just never admitted it to each other they are so perfect, if you think about it too hard the reader may gag. The only redeeming quality are what I'm going to dub the "love scenes" they are hot, but as far as a piece of literature it is just awful

    "Great series"
If you could sum up Where He Ends and I Begin in three words, what would they be?

Love the series, not my favorite of the series, but definitely worth the listen. Jake and Nate have a beautiful relationship, but sometimes the POV changes and back to the past overlaps too much and so there is some redundancy.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Where He Ends and I Begin?

The scene in the bar with Nate's friends when they find out about Jake and Nate

What about Sean Crisden’s performance did you like?

He is my favorite narrator of all of them!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are many moments! The love Jake has for Nate is touching in so many places in the book, it is hard to pick one.

"Sweet story, not into the reader though"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The reader was my main issue with this book. I've read it on my kindle before and it is a super sappy story, which I really enjoy so I'm good with that, but I cringed a little at first with the reader when I listened to the audiobook. I felt that the reader was not a good choice for this book. I could see this reader doing well with a book that wasn't a romance. The tone that the reader used for Jake made it sound like he was Nate's father and it skeeved me out a bit.

What other book might you compare Where He Ends and I Begin to and why?

Well I would probably compare it to other Cardeno C. books. They are all sappy sweet gay romances with a soul mate theme (or at least the one's I've read so far are like that). If you don't like sappy than its not a good choice for you but if enjoy that kind of thing than they can be satisfying reads.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Mostly it was that the tone that the narrator used for Jake sounded like a condescending parent when he was talking to Nate a lot of the time. Also the way he read the sex scenes was off in my opinion. I really do think this narrator could do well with a different kind of book though.

Was Where He Ends and I Begin worth the listening time?

I'm really not that picky so yeah, for me it was. I could ignore that I didn't like how the narrator read it to some extent and when it got really bad it was interesting to wonder who the hell decided that this reader was a good fit for this book. It was like watching a bad movie for the fun of it.

"Good..but there really is no story is there?"

I really liked this book... I am so into the m/m stories at the moment. Even though I like this book, I felt it seriously lacked a plot, drama, action...whatever you want to call it. It just lacked a point. It was basically the story of best friends who are now in a relationship. Each chapter jump from Jake's POV to Nate's POV. The both repeat the very last scene of the previous chapter then add a little more. I mean it was cute...but I only think b/c Sean Crisden narrated this. I have said this many times before... A story can totally sink or swim b/c of the narrator and if it wasn't for Crisden, I think this story would have totally sunk! Crisden really brings his characters to life, by all the emotion he use when narrating. I actually pick the story b/c of Crisden, so I am not to disappointed for that, but I don't know if I will listen to another Cardeno C. book if they are all like this jumping POV thing.

This is a good credit if you are waiting for another book to come out. If not, just wait till you stack your credits up then maybe get this just for Crisden's narration alone. Crisden is just that good.

    "Why Am I crying?"

I was constantly crying. A true romance. No real angst, distress or problems at all. I kept waiting for the shoe to drop. Jake makes a perfect lover in this romance. The writing switches from Jake's and Nate's perspective created some redundancy which took me while to get used to. The tears were past secrets to what extent each other would do for each other. I was totally mesmerized by Jake's character. He had everything that I would have ever wanted. I originally gave this four stars yet I couldn't stop thinking about it the next day. I edited this review and gave it five stars. I want to listen to it again.
