The Shell Seekers, the classic novel by acclaimed writer Rosamunde Pilcher, is now available in audio. This epic romance has sold over 3.5 million copies to date; her other bestsellers include Winter Solstice, Wild Mountain Thyme, and Coming Home.
Set in London and Cornwall from World War II to present, The Shell Seekers tells the story of the Keeling family, and of the passions and heartbreak that have held them together for three generations. The family centers around Penelope, and it is her love, courage, and sense of values that determine the course of all their lives.
Deftly shifting back and forth in time, each chapter centers on one of the principal players in the family's history. The unifying thread is an oil painting entitled "The Shell Seekers", done by Penelope's father. It is this painting that symbolizes to Penelope the ties between the generations. But it is the fate of this painting that just may tear the family apart.

"The Shell Seekers is a deeply satisfying story, written with love and confidence." (Maeve Binchy, The New York Times Book Review)
"This version of the shell seekers is only 45mins"
This 24 hour book is a wonderful story. I would read it 2 or 3 times again.
It is my all time favorite book.
However in Canada we cannot get the unabridged version. This45 min is not worth purchasing.
This short version was well read - very good
I hope others will ask audible to try to get the entire book.
It is a family saga in Cornwall. And it is very hard to put it down.
Listening to audiobooks is a guilty pleasure. I travel a lot so listen to about four per monthly. Biographies are a favorite.
"Abridged"
No
Mauve Binchey's - similar style
Yes
Wish you had the unabridged version of this as it's one of my favorites. The abridged doesn't do it justice.

"A True Classic"
I have treasured this book for years and was glad to see it at Audible. I have the worn out cassettes of this book. I would definitely recommend this book and any book that is narrated by
Lynn Redgrave. My other favorite book of Rosamunde Pilcher's is Winter Solstice. Both of these books will always top my reading list.
"This is 3 hour abridgment of my favorite book."
An old friend.
Warm and lovely reading.
It's fantastic for what it is. Wish I could get the unabridged version. Redgrave is superb.
