A girl murders her own father and mother in cold blood. A whole village of people disappears without trace, and all anyone saw were strange lights in the sky. An Egyptian mummy, disturbed after thousands of years, leaves a trail of horrible disasters. Incredible? Impossible? Too awful to imagine? But someone, somewhere has sworn that each of these sinister stories is true...

"Chilling and Well Done"
I first listened to these stories on tapes from the library when I was in middle school. I made the mistake of listening to them at night, although the book does warn against it. Terry Deary did such a great job writing the stories, and Denica Fairman did such a great job reading them, that I was terrified!
Listening to the book again about ten years later, I've still got chills. The book is great at portraying the horror of the stories, but also at presenting the facts behind them. Terry Deary clearly did his research for this book, and it shows.
I recommend this book, but I will warn you that the stories are quite scary. Don't make the mistake I made and listen to them after dark.
