Would you consider the audio edition of Shadow Prey to be better than the print version?

One of the best in the Prey series. Subtle yet compelling and with a suspenseful plot. Richard Ferrone is a forceful and very listenable narrator.

    "Not impressed."
    Any additional comments?

Although not exclusively, I do read a lot of crime novels and I am perplexed by the good ratings this one received. There are a lot of good crime fiction authors out there but this is not one. I do make allowances for a novel considering the fact that it is entertainment and does not need to be completely realistic. But this Novel was just bad. The characters are improbable and inconsistent. The dialog is unrealistic and cheesy. The actions of the characters are erratic. The overall idea of the story is good; the rest is just not good. I can imagine that if you are a male seeking a fantasy fulfilling story of a rich tough guy that can have his cake and eat it too and do not care much about the literature value, this is a story for you.

    "Not so good"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who live in St.Paul. Sanford relies on his Twin Cities background way too much on this book...maybe Joe Soucheray liked it....

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'll finish up the last 30 minutes of Team of Rivals.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Richard Ferrone?

He is good. Yes I would.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    I'll pick door three.

    Any additional comments?

Maybe I'm 'off' on this but I wonder if Sanford wrote it.
Enough sex for teenage girls but to what purpose?
Just not well written. Plus, where is the 'who dun it' part?
I haven't finished yet so maybe it will get better.

Would you try another book from John Sandford and/or Richard Ferrone?

The newer works are much better, yes.

Has Shadow Prey turned you off from other books in this genre?

No but I will pay more attention to the copyright date.

What three words best describe Richard Ferrone’s performance?

    Good, talented, capable.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Story was intersting at times.

    Any additional comments?

Just really disliked the Davenport character in this book...or should I say lack of character?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shadow Prey?

When Lucas first meets Shadow in the apartment

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Richard Ferrone has become Lucas Davenport. His voice brings the right amount of edge, sarcasm and humor. He is a great narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes if only I could.

    Any additional comments?

So happy that the old Prey novels have been released in this fashion with Richard Ferrone reading them. Hats off to John Sandford, great author.
