Nelson DeMille, Scott Brick and the character they both bring to life are simply the best! I love the look back AND getting something to tide me over until The Panther is released.

    "Great short story"

The only problem I had with this book is that I wish it was longer.

I love the John Corey character and have been waiting (not so patiently) for another one of his books to come out so when I found this one I thought I would give it a go even though it was less than 2 hours long.
It was a fun quick paced story full of the John Corey trade mark smarta#* sarcastic remarks and dry humour.

"DeMille, one of my favorite Authors"
Would you listen to The Book Case again? Why?

It is rare for me to re-read a book. This book was as good as his others. Only problem for me was I wanted it to last longer. Once I finish one of his books, it's hard to find something that I want to read. His dialog goes from serious situation, to a hilarious remark. I think he is a brilliant writer and and never gets boring.

    "Loved the Book.................."
Would you listen to The Book Case again? Why?

I loved listening to the story as I was driving to/from my husbands home. I love Nelson DeMille and have bought several of his books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

John Corey because he is a wonderful detective and Nelson DeMille make the characters alive.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

He put good character into the character if that makes sense but he made John Corey more believeable and with Nelson DeMille books, you have to really believe what is going on and then you really wonder if what happens in the book hasn't actually happened.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I never really laugh or cry however I was wondering if things were real in the book that it was actually happening in our own world.

    Any additional comments?

Love Nelson DeMille and will probably buy the next audible.com book from him.

"Interesting study on the psychology of the mind"
Where does The Book Case rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The reading was terrific and DeMille did a fantastic job on depicting the nature of the human mind. While I appreciated the reading and the pschological aspects, the story wasn't gripping. It reminded me a lot of the way Columbo used to think..."Oh...one more thing." I did enjoy the book and recommend it, but it's not one of my all-time favorites.

Would you be willing to try another book from Nelson DeMille? Why or why not?

I picked this one up because I love books, bookstores and anything book related. I'd never read DeMillle before but thoroughly appreciated his delving in of human nature. He did that well...so well that I think I will read other books by him. He really pegged the psychology...I loved that!

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm not sure if I've ever listened to Scott Brick before, but regardless, he really added to the whole story. His timing was superb...I loved the pauses...very well done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was not one moment in particular that moved me, but it was fun to watch as clues were revealed and the thought process that was used to draw conclusions. It's always shocking what the human mind can justify.

    Any additional comments?

Give it a shot...it's a short, but fun, ride!

    "Story good, didn't use Audible"
What disappointed you about The Book Case?

I enjoyed the story. I would have liked more!!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Predictable.

How could the performance have been better?

Story was so short I didn't use Audible. It was a waste of my money. It cost more than the book.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Book Case?

    No a one.

    Any additional comments?

I don't think I would purchase an Audible book unless it was a really big book.

    "Didn't do John Corey justice."
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Much too obvious, I would have like to see John Corey have a bit more of a challenge.

    "Not Worth a Listen"

This short story takes place early in the career of John Corey where he is called in to a suspicious accident. I found the story very boring and predictable. I am glad I paid so little for it.

    "Whodunnit?"

Has the feel of a classic crime drama. A bite-sized book, with a larger-than-life detective.

This my introduction to DeMille and Corey, and if he is like this I will listen to more of his books. I had read that Detective Corey was a smart-a_ _, but thankfully he was not like that in this short. Modern-day Sherlock Holmes, more like it.
