Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be... kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.
But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.
So much for normal.

"A Definite Winner!"
This quirky paranormal story is written and played out with so much heart, it's hard to imagine how one would not be charmed by it...Evie and her misadventures, and her love for her sweet boyfriend. Yes, this is a youth-oriented story and the relationship between Evie and Lend remains innocent, so you just have to know that's what you're going for with this tale. The writing is good. Ms. White has considerable talent, and she does not "take it easy" and bring only her B or her C game because this story could probably "coast" on it's quirkiness and fun even with lesser writing. Instead, she fully commits with her A-game. The characters are endearing. Evie will win your heart; yes, the thinks and sounds much like a teenager because she is one. Lend is a charming and sweet character. Sure, he may be a bit ideal (as Evie would say, "read: Too good to be true!"), but after all, isn't that what fiction is for? Excellent narration by Emily Eiden...she IS Evie, she truly makes her real.
"An Amazing YA Voice & An Intense Character Dynamic"
I can't say much about this book without feeling like I'm giving away spoilers. So, this will be a short review.
That "Itch" that makes me want to read the next book has completely enveloped me. Evie's voice was just as powerful, sometimes doubly powerful in this book as it was in the first. What really kept me going was the character dynamic and development, mainly because of a new addition to the cast.
Basically, I expected this book to be a shadow of what Paranormalcy was, but the climax ended up effecting me more. Because of that, I'll most likely read this again before Endlessly comes out.
Also, Emily Eiden is an extremely talented performer. I can't fathom reading this book without the addition of her voice.
"Love book #2 about as much as book #1!!!!"
I loved that Eve finally got to just be a teenage girl for once in her life. Also the narrator does an amazing job!!!
WOW just 1? I guess that would have to be meeting Lends mother.
I was very funny at times, the banter between Eve and the female vampire (forgive me I forgot her name) was quite comical. I cant say that this book made me cry. I don't believe that was the intention of the author.
I'm a twenty-something lit nerd who enjoys Romance, Fantasy and YA Fiction. I like strong female heroes and entertaining readers.
"A fantastic sequel"
I loved getting back into Evie's story. Life has changed for her and she must figure out how to balance who she is and what she wants together.
I loved the scenes with Evie and Lend. Here is a teen couple that has their issues. They fight, they make up, they break down and they miscommunicate. Yet at the end of the day they are trying to make it work. I get tired of the 'happily-ever-after' endings. This is a relationship that gives a great example of what you have to do to make love work. That was excellent writing.
I don't like to put spoilers out on my reviews, but the scenes with Evie and Jack cracked me up. Jack is a fascinating new character who gives a lot of depth to the story.
I like to stretch my listens out to make them last longer. It pulls that joy out and makes a hard drive home all the nicer.
Sometimes sequels suffer because its a different story than the first one. I thought this book was better. The stakes were higher, the characters developed and there is still so many lose ends to tie up! I can't wait for the ending of the series.
Paranormal-urban fantasy book lover!
"Nice follow up"
This is the 2nd book in the series. It's a fun follow up book, but the 1st is still my favorite. We learn a lot about Evie's past and family and we get introduced to new characters as well. I'm excited to start the 3rd book "Endlessly" now.
I do recommend this series, its funny, spunky, and has attitude.
Love this site! I have a very busy job, so listening to audio books enables me to keep up on great stories!
"Not as good as the first book."
It was ok.
Maybe it's the slight "normalcy" of her life, but it just missed the zing the first book had.
Excellent as always! I really like her voice. Perfect for Evie!
No.
Sorry, but I had big expectations for this book because I loved the first one so much. I didn't hate it, but it didn't impress.
"Probably 5 Stars, but lacks background for reader"
I read this author's last book, Paranormalcy, and thought it was an amazing book (I still do!)
This book started out as though it was a chapter continuing from the last book. It's been awhile since I've read Paranormalcy and I don't remember all of the players, etc. so having the author just continue the last book so abruptly left me lost. I am rating the story with three stars because of this.
The reader is good, not great. I wish that someone who was savvy enough to catch mispronunciations would listen to some of these "teen" books prior to release (an edit to correct for grammar and proper word usage would be good, too- general annoyance, not just this book!)
Bottom Line: Probably a GREAT book if Paranormalcy was any indicator but I'm going to have to re-read that one and immediately go into this one so I have the continuity not given to the reader by the author.
"strictly for kids"
the high pitched voice of the narrator was like haveing someone run their fingers over a chalk board i couldnt even get through the first 15min without gritting my teeth! i tried.
