    "Fantastic Read"

This is an excellent read even if you have not played the game at all. I was losing sleep because I had to figure out what would happen next. If you enjoy dark fantasy novels this is the one.The narrator was just perfect and the audio quality is fantastic. Thanks audible for a great 13 hours.

"Never played the game, but a good story."

I liked this one most of the two books, mostly because the character development in this one is much better, although still a bit simplistic and often times uninteresting. The main character is really quite predictable until events unfold that change him. There is a lot of good action scenes and some interesting turns--albeit the plot is somewhat predictable in some parts--but for the most part was still interesting. Some of the phrases used to describe things are overused a lot and get rather annoying. The narrator was good and did a fine job of putting emphasis on high 'energy' situations and acted the parts very well.

    "A Wonderful Epic Adventure"

This book is wonderful you are immediately captivated by the story. Stephen Hoye's voice is exactly what I hoped for he paints the picture of this story beautifully. I wasn't able to stop listening. This reminds me of people sitting around the radio before the days of television. Just Fantastic!!!

"More than just background to a Great Game"

Big Fan of Bioware games. Was expecting a time waster novel for a long drive I had, that would give some background on the Dragon Age game which I love. To my surprise it exceeded my expectations and then some. Kept me engaged from start to finish. Very good character developement, engaging albeit predictatble plot, and excellent naration. Probably not for anyone who has no interest in the game, but if you have played or are planning to highly recomend using a point for this excellent fast paced listen.

"A Great Prequel for Dragon Age"

The novel is essential reading for those who have played Dragon Age and want to know more about origins briefly mentioned in the game especially Loghain.

    Great series!!!

"The background information is worth a listen!"

Having played Dragon Age: Origins before listening to the audiobook I was looking for information not contained with the game. The audiobook supplied that information and more. Whilst listening to the audiobook I would get flashes of gameplay which the audiobook referenced especially the trek within the Deep Roads.

A great book and I'm looking forward to the second audiobook.

    "not good"

I found it boing and the ready spoke so slow I had to speed the book up to finish the book. Nothing about the dark spawn, nothing about the dragons (thou the characters did see one fly by). It was just all about humans causing war and fighting over a thrown. So if your looking for something to fallow the game and have fantasy and wonder, this book isn't for you.

    Any additional comments?

Well written action fantasy book especially if you like the game. Adds to the Dragon Age lore by providing history and background on Logan and the kingdom. Not sure I'd recommend it to someone not familiar with the game but a good story overall..

I love a good fantasy, science-fiction, historical fiction or thriller novel - but I don't discriminate.

"Great for a Dragon Age Fan"
    Any additional comments?

If you're a fan of the Dragon Age games/universe - read this book. The book is a prequel following Maric Theiric (King Cailan's Father) as he fights to restore Ferelden's independence from the invading Orlesian Empire.

My favorite part of this novel was Loghain's backstory, it made me consider replaying the game with some different choices where he is concerned. I also really enjoyed the development of Maric throughout the novel.

I, however, would really recommend this as a stand-alone fantasy novel for anyone unfamiliar with the Dragon Age universe. I found the writing fairly dull. I applause David Gaider for this ability to write and develop interesting, relatable game characters and scenarios. But in between the dialogue and the great character building moments - I felt it was lacking.

This book was narrated by Stephen Hoye. His style of narration felt slow to me, even in the midst of a big action scene he didn't seem to have the urgency I like to see. Thanks to Audible, I was able to play the Audiobook at 1.5x speed, which made it a bit more urgent and exciting. I'll probably continue the series in print.

    "Good Fantasy"
What did you love best about Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne?

I loved the plot. I have read a lot of fantasy and they all start melding together but I think I will remember this one for its unique plot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne?

Since I???m female I usually identify with the female characters of a story. It was natural for me to identify with both of the important women in prince Maric???s life. When he realized the extent of the betrayal of the one that landed him in the arms of the other I found myself understanding both women???s actions. It was an odd moment in the story where I think most would take issue with the plot twist, but I thought it totally believable.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator has not been my favorite but he did a good job. My only complaint is not his fault. He had to read the words given him. I found the editing lacking in the book. This author used the word ???decimated??? many times to describe total destruction of an area by an army. A good Editor should have caught this and fixed it.

    Any additional comments?

Good fantasy puts you in an alternate world that has familiar elements that are twisted for that world???s genre. Many fantasy writers use obscure terms to describe their ???otherworld??? situations. This author did a good job of this but there were a few places where I felt he could have done better.
