Skinny Bastard: A Kick in the Ass for Real Men Who Want to Stop Being Fat and Start Getting Buff

I strongly suggest reading the "Skinny Bitch" page on Wikipedia before ordering this recording so you're prepared for what's coming. What's coming it a strong dose of conspiracy theories, vegan propaganda, and animal rights activism. All wrapped in a condescending attitude mixed with necessary profanity.

Just a few quotes to give you the idea;

"eggs are a hens menstrual cycle"

"meat is the decomposing decaying rotting flesh of a dead animal ... no matter how you slice it it's still a putrefying corpse"

"go suck your mother's tits" (likened to eating dairy)

"get you head out of your ass (and) rock the dairy free"

The book definitely is about getting skinny, but even more it is about the vegan life. The book definitely challenged my thinking. Still, be warned that this book is more about protecting animals and vegan diet than about general health. My favorite books on "industry" and food are by Michael Pollan. Skinny Bastard tries to shock you into change. It probably works on some, but the approach turned me away. It seemed more drama than data.

Michael Pollan's books are the kick-in-the-pants I needed - Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defense of Food should be read by many. So good.

not a bad a book but take everything with a grain of salt. I will admit that I FREAKED OUT with some of the subject matter but a someone else brought me back down to earth. I did learn a bit here and there but I really think one should look at this as a resource book and not a book of absolute truths (like I first did).

As juvenile as it is, the cursing. Seriously, the un filtered "real world" expressions in the writing is what did it for me. In order for a lot of this content to hit home for me and to get to me to listen it had to sound like a friend telling me the information and on that front they nailed it.

It was very early on, but the information dump on Aspartame. Rocked my world...

There are a few moments where the book becomes list heavy, but they are short lived for the most part, and add extra value to info junkies.

don't tell me what to think, and judge me for my actions just because you don't agree, just give me the information you want me to have and let me make my own decisions of what to believe or change in my life.
