"Authentic dialogue and a strong Texas flavor nicely complement the slapstick tone of Cash's rollicking debut romance featuring Debbie Sue Overstreet." (Publishers Weekly)
"OK"
This book sounded good, but I was a little dissappointed in the whole story. It was cute and had some fun characters and a happy ending, the narrator just about did me in. I could hear her swallowing and she paused in the wrong places- it was very distracting. The story would have earned another star if it had another narrator who could really play up the characters.
"Pause Pause"
The story is really cute, but the narrator drove me nuts with all the pauses. She stopped between each sentence like a robot reading the story.
"Delightfully Entertaining"
From the beginning I was captured by the author's use of "Texas" colloquialisms. I found myself laughing out loud with "glued zippers" and allergies. Add this to your list this is a fun and entertaining book!
"Good story, bad narration"
Although I did enjoy the story line - very light, not much character development - the narration was often painful. She would pause in the middle of a sentence and, thus, the sentence would lose its meaning and intent. She is a very slow reader, which was painful to me as I listened to the story. I have had an Audible subscription for six years now, and this is the first review I've felt compelled to write. I listen to about one book each week during my commute to work.

"Better than expected"
I wasn’t sure about this one because of the narrator (but you get used to her.) The story is great and I loved the characters and the town of Salt Lick, TX. She gives great descriptions and you can visualize everything. If you love the Texas “twang” and countryside you will really enjoy this book. A definite winner.
"Don't miss this one"
SUPERB!!! I loved this story and I think the narrator is very good. I would love to hang out with the charecters in this book! Be sure to read the "trash" book first because this story reflects back to it. I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!
"falls short"
Ugh. Despite a lot of promise this book falls short due to the poor narration. The reader will read one line, pause, read the next line, pause, etc. It was simply impossible to listen to as the herky-jerky reading makes you want to pull out your hair.
"Way Funny!"
Light hearted mystery who dunit that keeps you laughing as the plot and clues twist and turn! Loved it!
"Loved it...."
I was hesitant to buy this book due to the negative comments about the narrator. I am so glad I did, I loved the story and the narrator. I know people who sound just like this narrator, I grew up in a small rural Texas town and this book nailed life in a small town. It is laugh out loud funny.
"What a hoot!"
Laugh out loud funny, to bad the narrator wasn't better, felt more like she was reading instead of telling a story.
