From New York Times best-selling author Bob Mayer writing as Robert Doherty: Now we know what the government hid there. It's time we found out why....

Hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest is a place shrouded in mystery. It is called The Mission. And in nearby villages people are screaming in pain as they die from a virus more deadly than Ebola. They can't escape it. They can't cure it. They can't stop it from exploding into a worldwide epidemic poised to kill us all....

Scientist Lisa Duncan and Special Forces Officer Mike Turcotte suspect this new "Black Death" is actually a biological weapon in an escalating war between us...and "them".

Them? The aliens who are part of a chilling conspiracy connected to ancient riddles, a covert government agency...and Area 51. Now from the Great Wall of China to a top-secret facility beneath Antarctica's ice cap, an eclectic group of soldiers and scholars are working with Duncan and Turcotte to give humankind one last shimmering hope to survive. To stop the aliens - at least until the Pandora's box of Area 51 opens up again....

Critic reviews

"This third volume in Doherty's ongoing chronicle of human-alien clandestine warfare should appeal to fans of UFOs, conspiracy theories, and 'ancient astronauts'." ( Library Journal)

This series, which began with such promise in Area 51, has become rather long in the alien's tooth. This is mindless fiction, of course, but the story is difficult to follow, and then you realize, why bother? The various good and bad aliens and their earth bound allies and clones have just become tedious.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend. It is interesting to learn about the two sets of aliens and the history. I still feel a bit confused not knowing which are good or bad and supposed to be protecting the human race. And I have to admit I was ready for the war and it isn't in this book.

What other book might you compare Area 51: the Mission to and why?

The first 2 books within this series.. I haven't read anything else that can compare so I can only compare it to the first 2 books.

What about Jeffrey Kafer’s performance did you like?

Emotion

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The war continues..

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

We'll, it wasn't for me so I probably wouldn't recommend it. Too confusing to follow.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I couldn't get that far.

What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does a very good job and is enjoyable to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I loved the first two books but this one was so confusing that I couldn't keep track of who were the "good guys" and who were the "bad guys'. And then he brought in the religious cult and that was the end of my desire to listen to it. I can't help but think that the author should have made the second book the ending to the series. This one isn't enjoyable because it is too complicated and not really much fun to listen to.

Too many antagonists
