Publisher's Summary

The unexpected happens in an instant. On her way to work, secretary Docia Waverley hurtles into a crashing crossroads, and she quickly begins to suspect that things will never be the same. Then, when a tall, blond, muscular stranger intervenes on her behalf, telling her it is his duty to protect her at all cost, what is just a feeling turns to proof positive. That is, as long as Docia's savior doesn't turn out to be a crazed kidnapper....

When Ram finds Docia, he has no doubt that she is his queen. But as this golden warrior sweeps in to protect her, he feels something more than body heat every time they touch. He is overwhelmed by a searing connection that goes deep into the twin souls inside him. A desire rises in him that is forbidden - this woman is his queen, the mate of his king, his leader, his best friend. And yet Docia is so vulnerable and attractive that she awakens a hunger in Ram that is undeniable, a carnal craving he cannot yield to...not without risking the very survival of the Bodywalkers.

"BRILLIANT FOUNDATION TO A WHOLE NEW SERIES"

If you love paranormal/romances (as I do) then you should love this and, although J.F.'s books are relatively new to Audible, I think her books are awesome. At the time of death some deserving few are given the choice of allowing an ancient Egyptian to share their bodies and they become a Bodywalker. The story builds as Docia is murdered and chooses to become a Bodywalker she wakes up and meets Vincent/Ramases (enter handsome blonde hunk) who is also a Bodywalker and there's an instant attraction. However, Ram (who is No.2 in the pecking order) thinks Docia is off limits to him because he must just protecter her as she is possessed by his Queen and she is destined for someone else - his King when he can find a suitable body to inhabit and join her.

Eventually, we find the story is ultimately about a civil war between the Politico Bodywalkers who think they should 'share' a person's body/soul and the Templars who think they should 'dominate' and completely take over a person's body once they die. Both sides have been fighting for supremacy for hundreds of years and, as they each get killed off, they have to wait for the next suitable body for them to inhabit and then they return to the fight - but this time around things are going to change.

It's got lots of great characters and creatures who all help to build a funny, sad, emotional, passionate, pleasurable and imaginative journey into this new series.

Worth a credit? If you're into a series that puts a whole new spin on the paranormal romance world then it has to be a YES and if you're a J.F. fan then it has to be a YES too.

    "Good but kind of weird."
Would you be willing to try another book from Jacquelyn Frank? Why or why not?

If it was a different series. I think it’s a good listen but I thought it was kind of hard to really understand the "blending" or the idea of two different personalities in one body. During certain conversations it was difficult to keep up with remembering who said what! Overall, not bad but I probably won’t continue the series.

I have been happily married for 17 years, I have 3 children (12, 14, & 16), and 2 dogs. I am currently working on a 2nd degree. Life is chaotic and stressful, but I wouldn't change it. I am blessed and enjoying my life.

    "Wonderful beginning!"

The story is interesting and complex. I really liked it. The characters make you want to hear more of their lives. I will definitely be ordering the next one. I am really looking forward to the next book.

Okay as much as I love Xe Sand's voices and the wonderful way that she narrates, I really do NOT like how she does the voice trembling when she produces some of the voices. For example: Docia screams for her brother, but it sounds like only a whispered tremulous voice. She happens to use this tremulous voice on women and men. First, it is not very masculine and secondly most women do not scream in a light tremulous light voice. Somewhat distracting, but overall a wonderful production.

"What! Frank has just made my night!!!"

Ummmm... Ok... Nightwalker! Do I even need to say more! Frank is going to make a WORLD of Nightwalkers now... OMG!!! I am sooo there...

I totally loved the Nightwalker series... Jacob and Adam where like the best books I have ever read/listen to in my lifetime and with none other than Xe Sands narration, and now we have a whole new series with more of Xe.. Yes Yes Yes!!!

This was such a great start, and soooo freakin funny. I was suprised for Frank. Doica is such an off the wall character with all her cooky sayings and these bodywalker nightwalkers, what a good concept. Good job Frank! I was a little worry when Ram was clearly inlove with the wrong woman, but it all worked out.

What I loved was who Ram really is.. OMG!!! Let me just say, I love Eygptians themes, and the way Frank worked it into this book was sooo awesome. I am on pins and needles for the next book! I mean she even worked in mummification.. OMG! Come on! SOOOO GOOD!!!

Like I said, Xe Sands is just the best narrator on the freakin planet! If Frank keep getting Xe to narrate her books, she will be an audible millionare!!! lololol....

Buy this/credit this/ keep this because the series is gonna be awesome!!!!

Forever is next... and I can't wait!!!!

""It's ménage à everybody!" ...I was so confused"

I'm a HUGE Jacquelyn Frank fan (I've read all her books in print) and I absolutely love the Nightwalkers Series. However, this new race of Bodywalkers was a bit too confusing for me. The "blending" of the bodywalker with it's host was just too weird. I couldn't seem to figure out who the "main couple" really was?? Docia/Ram? Ram/Tameri? Vincent/Docia? I just couldn't reconcile in my mind who was really in love and who was just there for the ride. At one point in the book Docia says "It's ménage à everybody!" (which made it even weirder for me)
The best part of the book was Docia's brother Jackson who has a side story.

***Spoiler Alert: He is the main character in book 2. So I will most likely give that book a try as well.

Overall, not a bad concept but execution was a little too confusing for me. I just hope book 2 is better.

    Any additional comments?

Generally once I start something movie, book or project I have to complete it, but 3 1/2 hours into this book, I just couldn't do it, it was long and drawn out. I honestly don't mind the authors voice, its different, and it was probably the only reason I continued to listen to the book.

    "Different"

The Judge and Jury is still out on this, I really did not care for this new series as much as the others.. If you read " The Host" by Stephanie Meyer's the story is somewhat like that. Except one has to die and agree to share their body with the spirit of the body walker One minute you may be hearing the main character and the next the other personality So basically you have two individuals sharing a body. I may or may not go on to the second book. Read or listen for yourself and see if you like it. The narrator does and excellent job and there is a twist to it, not a bad story,
    just different.

    "Lookout of those nightwalkers!!!!"
Where does Forbidden: World of Nightwalkers, Book 1 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

OMG!! This a facinating new series and I really enjoyed it. It has to be in my top five favorites.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Forbidden: World of Nightwalkers, Book 1?

One of the most memorable moments I had was when Docia was asked if she wanted to live or continue though the mist to death. She thought about all the deaths there had been in her family and all she had now was her and Jackson.

What does Xe Sands bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would not have been able to hear the accents of the characters if I had just read it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Definately!

    "Bias because of my expectations"

I walked into this novel with a complex bias and high expectations. Part of me is excited to read a Frank novel and enjoy some of the best characters and world-building in a PNR and the other part of me is resentful that this new spin-off series had taken the Frank's focus away from the Shadowdwellers series which is one of my favorite PNR series of all time.

If you are a fan of Frank's work you must have read her Nightwalker and Shadowdweller series (if not, read them, now!). This new series takes place in the same world and revolves around a new species of Nightwalkers known as Bodywalkers. This installment introduces the reader to the world of the Bodywalkers; the origin and the process involved. We meet Docia and Ram as the main H/h in the story and within them we meet the Bodywalkers that share their bodies. Docia is a gentle person who hides her insecurities with quirkiness. Ram is an alpha male, extremely loyal in his duties and protective of Docia. There is a slew of supporting cast members that will help move the series a long. Frank does a great job in writing dialogues that deals with two distinct personalities and souls housed in one being. I was never confused or left to wonder who was doing the dominant thinking or talking. I think the issue I had with this novel is that because it is the first in the series, it had a lot of foundation to lay. There really wasn't an opportunity to fully engage in the main characters. It felt rushed towards the end and it made me feel a bit unfulfilled and disappointed. I also wanted to read more about the other Nightwalkers. I know this series is different in its own right, but I was hoping for a cameo or something from the other Nightwalker characters we've met in the other series.

    Narrator:
    Xe Sands
    Performance: 3/5
The peaks and troughs of her voice was hard to hear at times. I found myself adjusting the volume too many times which I find distracting and annoying.(less)
