In Elantra, a job well done is rewarded with a more dangerous task. So after defeating a dark evil, Kaylin Neya goes before the Barrani High Court, where a misspoken word brings sure death. Kaylin's never been known for her grace or manners, but the High Lord's heir is suspiciously ill, and Kaylin's healing magic is the only shot at saving him - if she can dodge the traps laid for her.

"I love this series!"
This is a really nice continuation of this series. When the author does a good job, the first in the series becomes my favorite in said series because it's the introduction to a brand new world. It isn't often for me that the second in the series is better than the first. This is one of those rare cases. The story was interesting though I missed Marcus since he didn't play as big of a role in this one. Hvam does a great job with voices. It's amazing how so many voices come from one woman.
I Love young adult fiction, mysteries, clean stories with little swearing. Regency Romances are my favorite. I love fantasy, fantasy adventures, biographies, & historical fiction
"Entertaining 2nd book!"
I really enjoyed this book. I'm worried about the main character and how many powerful people have an interest in her abilities. She seems to be able to do a lot with her untrained powers. I just hope that she quits fighting it and tries to learn. It seems silly to find out you have a natural talent for something and then decide you don't want to have anything to do with it. I took a point off from the story for that. Overall though, I really enjoyed the book and anticipate the next book. So far a story line without smut. I'm hoping that does not change. Hooray for Michelle Sagara! Too many authors just rely on smut for appeal and ignore the story line. Already have the next 2 on my wish list.
"Needs more romance!"
She was good with her writings but rambled alot about pointless information.
Nothing, she was very good.
Wish more would have happened with Severn.
"I couldn't put this book down."
This is a great continuation of the story. I couldn't put it down and I can't wait to start listening to book 3.
"Even Better"
I love this series! This story is even better than the first (and just a hint, they just keep getting better!). The reader is great and presents the characters with "doing voices". Awesome Audible purchase!
"Great story; mediocre writing."
The characters in this story are great. There is a lot of depth to a lot of characters--even characters who will likely only appear in this episode. Kaylin is pretty juvenile, but it is interesting to watch her begin to mature. She has such a pure heart, you always want to root for her! In this episode, I was really interested in the change in the Barrani characters, who have seemed very flat in the others. I'm especially interested to see where things are going with Lord Nightshade!
In my opinion, the writing in this book is pretty sophomoric. There are too many complicated, awkward, run-on sentences that are difficult to follow. It seems like the author is trying to make herself sound more intelligent than she is. On the flip side, it's a great story, and I'll definitely be listening to the rest of the series!
"Another Winner in the series"
Absolutley! One of my favs in the last year. Started with #7 on sale and was so impressed I just bought the first book and am now starting #4. Missing work to listen through the series! Picky about my purchases and this enire series is worth the credits.
I enojoyed his book as much as my first read..#7. First book was good but 2 and 7 are my favorites so far. More adult with less of the erotica in many female fantasy reads. It's one of my top listens the year if not the best. Enjoy it as much as my Bujold Vorkosigan series or Flints 1632. Highly recommend the series. Kind of an Eve Dallas story set in a fantasy world.
Good solid performance. Did have a bit of trouble following some of the characters due to a lack of more than a couple of accents and the confusing names.
Only the insatiable desire to get through the entire stories 7.5 books ASAPP.
I know it's good, as I have ignored work for nearly a week now.
"Beautifully written and performed!"
I felt as if I was in attendance of the high court myself.
There are so many unanswered questions and mysteries to explore in Elantra. Indeed to know more.
So eloquent. It is almost as if this is a real story being retold. The details and emotion are so rich.
Not a thing.
Highly recommended!
"Great performance"
We learn about Kaylin's world and secrets along with her.
Kaylin -- she has great power and yet lives a normal life and messes up like the rest of us.
The voices she gives to the various characters and races make them come alive.
"Cast in Courtlight"
I have not read the print version of these books but I suspect the audio version is better because of the narration.
Khristine Hvam is an excellent narrator.
This book is filled with action and does keep moving.
