My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.
Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.
Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.
Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Because Vincent is no normal human. He has a terrifying destiny, one that puts his life at risk every day. He also has enemies... immortal, murderous enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.
While I'm fighting to piece together the remnants of my life, can I risk putting my heart - as well as my life and my family's - in jeopardy for a chance at love?

"What a pleasant ride!"
This book had totally took me by surprise! It was way better than I had expected. Amy Plum has done a terrific job at capturing the stunning beauty and rich settings of Paris. I didn't actually think I would like it, with the title sounding so cheesy and all. I thought it was probably just another Twilight wannabe, but I was wrong. This book is original and exceptional. I was glad to find that the paranormal creatures in this book aren't the usual werewolves, vampires, faeries, demons.........so it was sort of a pleasant surprise.
All the characters are charming and likable. I was completely sucked in within the first half hour. Honestly, Die For Me is so refreshing and entertaining. Anyone who has a thing for paranormal romance will love it! Just give it a go. Don't hesitate!

"An instant favorite."
A lovely, beautiful book. Fresh paranormal concept. Engaging, well-written characters whose feelings, reactions and personalities felt authentic. Just absolutely fell in love with this book...and maybe fell in love a tiny bit with Vincent as well. How could I not? He is after all...to die for ;) Kate too was a wonderfully dynamic character with great strength despite, or perhaps because of, her own personal tragedies.
The narrator for this book was phenomenal...Whelan did a wonderful job of using her voice to uniquely define each of Plum's characters. I'd like to get a hard copy of this book at some point, but I think hearing it for the first time with the French and the accents made this book even more magical.
Buy it. Try it. Read it. Love it. Seriously.
In pursuit of truth, justice, and an end to spoilers!
"Parisian Paranormal"
The narrator totally made this book. I'm so glad I listened to it rather than read it. She's great with accents and character voices, and her reading added richness to the fun French setting. Overall, great narrator and setting, engaging love story. I knocked the story rating down to four stars because it got a little mired down by the mushiness, which in turn disrupted my suspension of belief a touch. (OK, entirely believable? No. Cute anyway? Yes.)
There are a lot of reasons why this book keeps being referred to as a French version of 'Twilight.' You hear so many books being compared to the Twilight series that I tend to ignore those statements, but in this case it works. If you like that sort of story, then there's a good chance you'll like this one too! I don't want to give too much away, but this book and 'Twilight' both fit strongly into the same genre, and I found both to be very engaging examples of their category. Similar level of love story, and both books lean away from harsh language and strong sexual situations, should that be important to anyone.
So yes, if you hated everything about 'Twilight' you should run far away from this book! But if you're in the market for a YA paranormal along the same lines, take a second look at this one.
Just a book fool.
"French Zombie Ghost LOVE!"
Alright if your looking for a YA "Paranormal Romance" LOOK NO FURTHER! This my friends is the first truly original story in said category I have seen in quite some time.
The narrator tipped this one right off the edge of good to great. She manages three separate accents and two languages without missing a beat. Too often the narrator is a distraction but in this case she is a gem.
This book is no literary genius and won't have you pondering life and the human condition BUT it will be fun and oh so romantic.
I recommend Die for Me to anyone looking for a good time.
"Good Start For The Series/Great Narrator"
Yes. It was nice to see something other than vampires/werewolves in a paranormal romance. The development of the love story was appreciated. Most YA Paranormal Romance stories are unrealistic in their instant love and devotion. This story took the time to build the relationship. The supporting characters had distinct personalities and were a big part of the story. They were well described and left you wanting to learn more about each of them. It also helped that there was a great Narrator. Julia Whelan does a fantastic job bringing each of the characters to life and making them believable.
There were several but can't really explain while trying to avoid spoilers.
It was when Vincent finally told Kate his story. It really made you understand who he is and why he is the way he is.
I liked the part when Vincent left a love letter to Kate to read while he was dormant in an effort to let her know how he felt without screwing it up or saying the wrong thing.
The book is good but not flawless. It would have been nice to have seen a little bit more of what the relationship was like between Kate and Georgia before the death of her parents. The fact that Kate's grandparents pretty much let them do whatever they wanted and her Grandmother even suggested that 16 yr old Kate spend the night at Vincent's house and miss school the next day to work out their problems was unrealistic no matter how liberal they may be.
I also appreciated the fact there wasn't the typical love triangle.
"Love it!"
I decided to listen to this book on a whim, not at all sure I would like it, but once I started listening- wow, I was totally sucked in! This is a very well written story- even though the concept is paranormal, it seemed totally believable and not at all far fetched to me. I love the main character, Kate- I found it easy to relate to her. I loved the character Vincent as well (who wouldn't?) So the story is great- I am anxiously awaiting the sequel.
I did love the story, but the narration is just as good! I thought the narrator did an amazing job- she was not exaggerated or cheesy (which so many narrators of audiobooks are-ugh). Her French accents were perfect, and she did a great job of having a distinct voice for each character. Extremely well done! I highly recommend the story and the narration!
Just A little bibliophile!
"Engrossing YA-oriented "Paranormal""
This story is well-done and well-written, in my opinion a very good example of the genre pretty much at it's best. The characters are fleshed-out enough to win you over - becoming as real as you might want from your fiction experience. I enjoyed the fact that heroine was not typical and predictable. She had her own agenda, even if maybe her motivation was based on sad reasons originally. She was not immediately consumed, without question or reservation, by a handsome newcomer in her life and the prospect of romance, love or whatever he might have to offer. Good narration by Julia Whelan, who's voice seemed well-suited to the characters, including her French accent.
"Wknd read - romance with a different twist"
Yes - A fun weekend or beach read if you are looking for a little romance. I liked the twist on the love interest. Looking forward to the next book : )
Love this site! I have a very busy job, so listening to audio books enables me to keep up on great stories!
"Interesting concept. Not a waste of a credit!"
Kate is a great heroine. Smart, clever, and she evolves beautifully in the story.
Nope this is my first one. She did great! The french accent is NOT easy and can be cliche and painful to listen to if done wrong, but she really great! I'm very impressed.
Audible, why isn't book 2, "Until I die" available? Book 3 is coming out next year, this needs to be added as well! Don't leave us hanging please.
"Great First Book in a Trilogy"
I enjoyed this book. The take on the supernatural with something I've never seen before was quite engrossing. The revenants were quite an interesting concept. I liked the love story between Kate and Vincent, the slow beginning of it. I'm looking forward to the next two books and learning more about the revenants. Julia Whelan did a fantastic job of narrating the story. Her french pronunciations were amazing. I think I'll look for her as a narrator again.
