Publisher's Summary

In a New York City fifty years in the future, Detective Eve Dallas tracks down those who break the law - including the ones sworn to uphold it.

Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a brutal, senseless crime - an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. And for the first time, Peabody is primary detective on the case, which means she has to get used to a new level of authority and responsibility. Good thing she learned the ropes from a master like Eve.

But after rounding up the perps, Peabody stumbles upon a much trickier situation. Determined to start working out as hard as she grills suspects, she chooses to do it at the old, rarely-used gym at Central. After a grueling workout, she squeezes into one of the narrow shower stalls, happy to have the place to herself. Just after she shuts the water off, the gym door clatters open - and while she cringes inside the stall, trying not to make a sound, Peabody overhears two fellow officers, Garnet and Oberman, arguing. References are made to delivering product, and a house in the islands, and someone named Keener who’s supposed to look like an OD. It doesn’t take long for a naked and vulnerable Peabody to realize that both officers are crooked - guilty not just of corruption but of murder as well. Fortunately, the two clear out of the locker room without realizing there was a witness.

Eve Dallas may have trained Peabody well - but this is too dangerous for one person to take on alone. Now Peabody, Eve, and her husband, Roarke, must try to get the hard evidence they need to bring the dirty cops down - knowing all the while that the two have already killed to keep their secret, and are no doubt willing to do it again.

    "Outstanding"

Fast-paced and full of intrigue, Treachery in Death hits all the right notes. There's something for everyone who enjoys the In Death series: great character development and interactions, humor, action and some wonderful Eve/Roarke moments. Eve's adversary is one of the strongest and most interesting in the series.

As always, Susan Ericksen does a wonderful job bringing the entire cast of characters to life.

    Highly recommended!

    "Treachery in Death"

Another great story in the death series. Peabody played a greater role in this story and new character were introduced and I think at least one will show up in future stories. I think Robb did a good job showing the feelings of betrayal that police officers have toward a crooked officer. The past was fast and Susan Ericksen does a great job reading the story. Can not wait for the next in the series.

    "Flippin' Awesome!"

This series just keeps getting better and better! This installment even has a very interesting twist in how Dallas and Peabody get involved. I don't want to give any more away lest I encroach on the mystery, but suffice to say you will NOT be disappointed! It's also enjoyable to catch up with past characters. JD Robb is a master at this and I can hardly wait for the next book!

    "I Heart Dallas!"

The 'In Death' series is definitely one of my favorites, greatly due to the wonderful narrative efforts of Susan Ericksen. She makes the characters jump off the page and straight into your head. I see very vividly - Eve, Peabody, Roarke, McNab and even the cat, in my mind when she's telling each story. Treachery in Death is no exception. J D changeed her M. O. a bit and gave us the villians right away. That was certainly a twist and added great depth to this installment. I love seeing Peabody grow and the familiar cast of characters are always great to come back to. This is one that shouldn't be missed. Looking forward to the next one already.

"Best book ever in J.D. Robb's Death Series"

Treachery in Death is my favorite of all J.D. Robb's Death Series books. I have listened to them all in and out of order. Thank you J.D. Robb for keeping Eve Dallas & Roarke alive with a new offering each year.
In this book I feel J.D. Robb really lets us know each character to a fuller depth. From Eve, Roarke, Peabody, to the Chief, I feel I know them as if they were friends or family. The story is great and I loved every minute of it. I did not want it to end. Susan Ericksen makes these books come alive. She has got to be one of the best female narrator's of all time.
I loved this new addition to the 21st Century's "In Death" Series. Thank you J.D. Robb.

    "Kudos for J D Robb/Nora Roberts"

For all of you out there that want to slame Susan Erickson for her accents, this is a story line of fiction not fact. I find that Susan does a Great job considering other narrators. Dallas and Peabody act like sisters and therefore you'll get the sibling rivalry. Since it's stories set in the future how do we know how things will be?
For those of you who don't know the characters read the first book and you will get Dallas' background. Yes she's pushy, bossy, sarcastic, and everything else. That's what makes her Dallas.
Open your mind to something other than fact, dream a little.

    "One of the Best"

This book is now in my top 3 of the series. Loved watching the team work "undercover". I enjoyed the small part where Peabody is "primary" giving Eve orders!
As always Susan Ericksen was fabulous!

    "TREACHERY IN DEATH"

Another fantastic Eve Dallas mystery. J D Robb continues to have a storyline that catches you within the first few lines and holds you tight til the last work. It is a joy to follow the lives of Rourke, Peabody, McNab, Feeney and Sommerset. Can't wait for another!!!!
