Publisher's Summary

When history professor Alison Carter became a consultant to the film version of the Wild West legend she’d dedicated her career to researching, she couldn’t possibly have known that she would not only get a front-row seat to a full-blown Hollywood circus but would innocently witness something that would put her life in peril. Nor did she expect that a tall stranger in a cowboy hat would turn the movie — and her world — completely upside down.

A. J. Gallagher didn’t crash the set in dusty Arizona to rub elbows with Hollywood’s elite. Unable to ignore ghosts from the past that refuse to stay buried, A.J. came to put an end to the false legend that has tarnished the reputation of his family. But when he confronts Alison, sparks fly. And when Alison is targeted by ruthless criminals, suddenly she and A.J. must face the intense attraction that threatens to consume them—and survive the danger that threatens their very lives.

    "Loved it!"

This was my first Suzanne Brockmann book and I thought it was great. Very different, in a good way. I loved the narrators. At first I thought each narrator would be the male/female characters but the both spoke for the same characters. As strange as that sounds it was very well done. Both narrators are excellent, the story was excellent. The story of AJ and Allison was sweet and the ending was excellent. Some of the romance novels I read the story is great but the ending stinks, too sweet and sappy...this one is perfect. I ended the book with a smile on my face. I'm now a big fan of Ms. Brockmann and have just downloaded another one of her books. Enjoy!

This is the first Suzanne Brockman book for me and I am impressed. The story is really cool and flows well. The characters are great and having a male and female narrorators works well for the story.

    "Pretty good story"

I almost didn't get past the first 1/2 hour on this one because Patrick Lawlor's voice was a bit too grading on my ears and nerves. I'm glad I persisted, however. I did get used to Lawlor's voice but feel the story would have been much better if Angela Dawe was the "only" reader.

    "2 love stories in one"

This is my first "not-Troubleshooter Inc" book by the author and I'm really glad I tried it.

As with some of her other books Suzanne Brockmann adds a love story of separate timeline with the main love story in this book. In this case James "Kid" Gallagher, and the supposedly kidnapped Melody in the past and A.J. Gallagher and Alison in the present. In the other books I found the juxtaposition sometimes annoying, but in this case it works really well in building the relationship of the main characters.
I also like the two narrators. I think having two narrator works really well with this story.

    "Wonderful story!"

This is a wonderful story that is full of interesting characters, an unpredictable plot that is funny and tender that left me smiling. The narrators did an amazing job and I will definitely listen to this one again and again! Don't miss this great book.

"Really great read. Witty and Well Done"

This is an unusual story read with humor and talent by Dawe and Lawlor. I have always been a Brockmann fan and I think this is one of her best. It is a clever and witty Western Romance and Ghost Story. Captured my kudos from the first page. Really enjoyed it.

    "Infamous"

I almost didn't listen to this book because of the previous readers review... I couldn't find the lecture she was talking about Obama?? The references to the 1st Gulf War couldn't be about our current president - he wasn't even a Senator at that time!! I love this book - It will be ranked among one of my favorites - And I have either read or listened to nearly every thing that Suzanne Brockman has wirtten. I am sorry that the other listner was offened to a brief reference, but don't let that stop you from a great listen! I love to listen to anything that Patrick Lawler reads and if it is Suzzane Brockman - all the better! Don't let someone elses opinion hold you back - This was a great book!

"A fun read that's definitely worth a credit!!!"

I love all of Suzanne Brockman's books and was not disappointed in this one. The story is interesting and the characters are realistic (well, except for Gramps - but he's one of the best parts of the story!) I liked Angela Dawe and Patrick Lawlor as narrators - made the listening even more enjoyable.

"I'm too old for this. Maybe so are you."

I'm sorry. Those super steamy hearts-beating-as-one endlessly long chapters with the requisite earth-moving simultaneous orgasms are soooo over the top. The plot's really not bad, although stretched way beyond what it needs to be. Regardless of any review to the contrary, this is a romance novel, not a mystery or adventure story. If you are into this kind of thing, well, you'll probably love it. I really hated it, flipped through the last bunch of chapters just to see if it would end the way I thought it would (yes, it did). For the genre, it's well written and maybe even innovative, but I hated it. I reached the point of near nausea toward the end of the last half, as if I'd eaten way too much very sweet dessert. Maybe it's age related, or maybe I just need grittier characters and more complex stories. Whatever. I also found the male narrator's voice very annoying. I've encountered him before and found his voice very annoying then, too. It has a whiny quality that is like chalk on my personal blackboard. Yes, it is subjective and maybe it wouldn't bother you, but it actually began to make my skin crawl. I wanted to enjoy this, really I did. I tried to like it. I stuck with it past the point when I might have otherwise stopped, but ... For the hard core steamy romance enthusiasts only. The rest of you, beware!
