It all begins with a painting called Guilt. Eve Duncan’s daughter, Jane, has no idea why she painted the portrait of the chilling face that now hangs in a Paris gallery. But the members of a cult that dates back to the time of Christ know both the face and the significance behind it. They believe that Jane must die – when the moment is right, and not an instant before she leads them to an ancient treasure whose value and power are beyond price. But for now they target those close to her, killing without mercy or conscience.
Jane’s journey takes her from Paris to Scotland to a cave in the Holy Land, as she fights with all she has to save her life. Even with Eve’s help, can she possibly escape before the clock stops ticking?
Eight Days to Live begins with an ancient conspiracy and a shocking betrayal, but will it end with the death of Eve Duncan and the sacrifice of Jane MacGuire? With Eight Days to Live, number-one New York Times best-selling author Iris Johansen delivers a thriller that will chill you to the core.
Investigate another case with Eve Duncan.

"It was Ok"
This was not as good as some of her other novels. Also with the narrator being female and there being so many male characters the reading of it seemed a little off. I may have enjoyed reading it more than listening to it.
"Extremely disappointed"
I have long disliked the females of this series and have zero idea why the men adore them. What keeps me coming back is the men; sexy, dark, interesting, dangerous. My new fave is Seth...unfortunately Jane who asked him to help her keeps telling him to get lost. I wanted to smack her and tell her, "Lady, never heard of gratitude?"
Jane is rude and takes completely after her adopted mother Eve, who continues to put the people she says means "everything" to her, in danger!
Iris--woman CAN be strong and not be bad mannered. They can also possess common sense. Really.
"horrible"
This book was absolutely terrible, in fact, one of the worst books I have ever consumed, well, partially because it was so bad I just couldn't finish it. Oh, and what the heck is "his(her) lips twisted" What is that and why does the author feel the need to use it almost every other sentence! Absolutely awful writing.
"Annoying narrator"
The narrator tries too hard to be a male with a Scottish accent. I found the accent distracting and a little comical. The story is ok, but the narrator is really annoying.
"Not good"
Possibly the worst book I have ever read/listened to... the accents of the characters were strange and the plot was just dumb.
"EIGHT DAYS TO LIVE"
Possibly the dumbest book I've ever read!
"Dreadful"
If the text reads, "the ancillary character replied, 'blah, blah, blah', flatly, it should sound flat. Every line of text was spoken as if the climax of the story was NOW.
No. The writing was trite, predictable. I found myself distracted by my gut response of, "really, that is what you would say at this moment?!?" or thinking the protagonist was a not bright, rude, shallow character. And the front of the book says "a forensic thriller" but there was ZERO forensics in the book. Did I mention that I don't like the protagonist.
I was expecting more of a realistic crime story instead of a chase involving a vampire and a protagonist with psychic abilities.
So overacted as to be almost a parody of itself.
The main character. Oh and the Bad Guys were so extreme as to be laughable, or maybe that was the ridiculous voice of narration
Retired and living in Spain, I am an avid reader. Audible has added a new dimension as I can experience excellent readers/actors too.
"A brilliant and stimulating read"
This is a very thought provoking thriller with a comprehensive series of twists.
Very good reading both for emphasis and clarity.
It made me think frequently.
Another excellent read from Audible and its excellent readers.
"Much better!"
This was a very good read! I exspecially liked the scottish characters and the way their questionable backgrounds played in the story. Jane was a bit overbearing and made to sound too stubborn. At times I felt compelled to fast forward through some of her dialogue, because I couldn't believe a woman could be so stupid as to want to see grisly murder victims. It is still worth the read.
"Can't finish this book"
One of the worst I've listened to in a while. Narrator really is off-putting with the over-enunciation of every single syllable and really bad dialects. I've read other books from this author and enjoyed them. Not her best by a long shot.
