News flash: Dad is prince of Genovia. (So that's why a limo always meets her at the airport!)
Downer: Dad can't have any more kids. (So no heir to the throne.)
Shock of the century: Like it or not, Mia is prime princess material.
The worst part: Princess lessons from her dreaded grandmere, the dowager princess of Genovia, who thinks Mia has a thing or two to learn before she steps up to the throne.
Well, her father can lecture her until he's royal-blue in the face about her princessly duty, no way is she moving to Genovia and leaving Manhattan behind. But what's a girl to do when her name is PRINCESS AMELIA MIGNONETTE GRIMALDI THERMOPOLIS RENALDO?
Listen to the whole Princess Diaries series.

"Does not belong in the 7 and under catagory!"
I bought this for my daughters (4 and 6). Luckily they lost interest before the discussion of the conditions that would have to be met before she lost her virginity. The book is more interesting than the movie, but not as inocent.
"Amazing!!!!!"
This is an amazing book. Do not be fooled by the movie this is WAY better!!! It may have a sappy tital and a pinkish aperance but it is an amazing book that any non-girly-girl will LOVE!!! As for all the reviews about it is a bad book for young girls, I think its just fine. Im 11 and loved it, but I guess you shouldnt let a 7-year old listen to it. Overall, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
"excrellent narration"
First, get all three books! They tie together seamlessly.
Very funny.
Ann Hathaway's reading is superb. She puts you right into the character and her situations. She is able to change her voice to the point that it seems there are at least 3 different readers..
The only down side to the books is the poor girl's obsessions with her figure (or lack of one), and "French kissing". Despite these negatives, I rate this as excellent family listening. Even our 12 year-old son was hoping there would be more books in this series.
My wife adds that even after having seen the movie first it made the book even more enjoyable because the casting of the movie was not that far off for each of the characters except for Gran mere. We will definitely be listening to this book many more times.
I love reading and listening to books and I hardly want to do anything else. I prefer fantasy & mystery books but I'll read anything...
"Love it!"
It's been a while since I have read the book but I did like Anne Hathaway's performance. She did a really good job but the book was just as fun to read too.
The best part about Meg Cabot as an author is that she will make you burst out laughing. She is witty and fun to listen to or read. This book will make you smile a lot but you still connect to the character really well.
If you have seen the movie STILL read this book. It's funny, smart, and still to this day one of my favorite books.
"Light and Happy"
Yes. It was light and happy
Confessions of a shop a holic. It just was a nice easy read
Mia telling off Josh for being a jerk and a publicity hog
Not really. Just nice reminders of how crazy I was in 9th grade
"A little cheese with that whine?"
I bought this for my 10 year old daughter because we liked the movie so much. I'm glad I listened to it first. I suppose the whining of the main character would be fine for a young reader, but the references to testicle cancer, mother having a man sleep over, french kissing, and loss of virginity are not. This one will not make it to her ipod.
"great listen"
This book is one of the best.
I recommend it to all the listeners.
"I loved this series!"
Even being in my twenties, I still enjoyed listening to The Princess Diaries. Anne Hathaway's narration is great, and she will make you love Mia. The books are very different from the movies. I recommend all five books in the series.
"Good Book for Everyone"
This is a great book for kids and adults a like. Is different from the movie but both are great! Would highly recommend.
