From daughter of the powerful to slave in a foreign land, Aly is also a pivotal leader in the underground movement to put a new queen on the throne. Witty, intelligent, and a talented spy, Aly is used to staying two steps ahead of the action. But with new adversaries, and a faltering romance, Aly is blind to the threat that lurks right under her nose. What will happen if the queen-to-be is lost?
In this dramatic sequel to Trickster's Choice, Tamora Pierce examines the powers of loyalty, family, and friendship in the face of adversity. And in doing so, she gives us the stories of three unforgettable young women discovering who they are and who they want to become.
Find out how Aly first became a spy in Trickster's Choice.

"Pierce deftly weaves an unforgettable story....The plot sweeps readers along in a whirlwind of court intrigue, deception, murder, and romance. The humor is wicked, and the plot twists will keep the pages turning to the supremely satisfying end." (School Library Journal)
I'm a teen; my favorites series are Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and Twilight by Stephene Meyer.
"entrancing!"
All of T. Pierce's books are marvelous! I've read all of her Trickter books, Alanna books, and Immortals books. I can't say which one is the best! Every series and book is connected to every other boom she has written, from Alanna's First Adventure to Trickster's Queen. If you don't res them all,, you won't understand themm entirely. It's like onw huge novel on fictional history! I love reading something connected to the other books, it's like finding the crucial puzzle piece after you had long put together the rest of the puzzle. They are all incredible, and a must read or listen! I hope there will be more novels by Pierce, because I feel that the story isn't finished yet. I need to find the other books from the Terrier.
"Great story, Shoddy narration"
No. I enjoy Tamora Pierce's books, but Trini Alvarado's narration is dry. Granted, I have read this book out loud myself, so I have a way in my head that I thought it should be, but still. She doesn't change her tone much and her accents all sound the same. There is little difference between Winnamine and Imogen, it's difficult to tell them apart. If you must, it's not a bad book and the plot makes up for the bad narration. Almost.
"Great book!"
This is another great book by Pierce, it is not only an engrossing listen/read, but causes the reader to think about the issues of equality and power, while enjoying the book. This one gives an end to the set that readers enjoy, yet allows us to look forward to seeing the characters in other books.
"worth the wait"
I am a Tamora Pierce fan, and have been waiting for this book for about a year now. it is about the dauter of Allana of Trebond/Pirates Swoop, the main character of the Lioness quartet. as you may have guessed, this book was worth the wait, and is a great edition to the many other books by this phenominal author.
"Tamora's Best"
I think this book is very well written and read. I gave it only 4 stars because I don't enjoy reading sexual content. While this book isn't as explicit as others, there definitely is sex in this book.
"Prefer your Kids read books without sex scenes?"
I was a fan of Tamora Pierce after reading the Circle of Magic Books. Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen sounded intriguing and so I bought them both. I'm glad I listened first before sharing them with my kids. A crow turned man desires the heroine and keeps asking to mate with her. Then the heroine starts longing for him and his kisses and eventually they end up in bed together (based on the old argument that he is going to battle and may not survive so they'd better do it now while they can.) Not a lesson I want my kids to learn. I wish books were rated like movies so I wouldn't waste my money.
