Distraction soon arrives in the handsome form of MacAllister Booke - a researcher who's come to investigate the rumors of witchcraft that haunt Three Sisters Island. Right from the start, he knows there's something extraordinary about Ripley Todd. It's not just her blazing green eyes and her sultry smile. There's something else. Something he can detect, but she'll never admit. Fascinated by her struggle with her amazing abilities, he becomes determined to help her accept who she is - and find the courage to open her heart.
But before Ripley and Mac can dream of what lies in the future, they must confront the pain of the past. For Three Sisters shelters centuries of secrets - and a legacy of danger that plagues them still.

"A storytelling wizard." (Publishers Weekly)
Just finnished the second book in this addictive trilogy. I absolutely loved how she develops her charachters and you really feel like you know them, or would know them just walking down the street. I can't wait to get started on the final book. (Sad sigh) Wish there were more in the series. One little tiny word of negative. I realize that the ending of a book is traditionally the climax and all that stuff, but listening to it, you are pumped up for that final battle, and poof, it's gone. She gives such vivid detail with everything else, the loves scenes were much longer than the "battle". It could have been draged out a bit. Maybe in the next book it will.
I read so I can write
I stayed up all night listening to this book. That is rare for me, but this was one I couldn't put down. The first book in this series was great and the whole mystery caught my interest. In this book the characters I already liked grew in stature and the addition of the loveable professor was fantastic. Who couldn't love a brilliant geek with a hard body who looks sexy in glasses.
After a nap I'm off to book three.
this is my favorite trilogy-the characters are wonderful and the story is fascinating
The magical parts.
all of them.
Great-keep them coming.
Ripley makes one realise that even being a tomboy has it's moments and although in everyday living one can not be as she is - you secretly wish you could - but the softer side to all of us there will always be!
Again - I want to go live there - want to be that happy - want to find the missing parts in life that make it all matter!
Brilliantly read - superbly written
It would take a better storyline. It was predictable after the first 30 minutes.
No, It was just a dud! It happens even to the best of authors, let alone to a whole genre.
She was clear voiced, concise and kept good pace. The corny 80s synthesizer "evil voice" took ALOT away from the reading.
I can sum up this book in one word, "Predictable". I had hoped for better after reading the first installment. The corny 80s synthesizer "evil voice" was extra cheesy. I had hoped it would have filled out Ripley's character. There was little to no development in the other characters either. That is a huge regret! The characters are interesting.
SKIP THIS BOOK! Unless you cannot live your life without knowing what happens in this trilogy.
Audio Book Junkie!
The series from the Three Sisters Island is among my favorites in the "feel good" books category. I listen to this story when I am feeling blue and it never fails to pull me out of it. I love how Nora Roberts can create characters that you love and truly would love to know.
I always like books in a series. So yes I would refer these to a friend. Its an all around good read
There are too many.
She has a a way with changing up the voices.
love series because you get the opportunity to be longer with the characters.
This did not disappoint...love these witches
Yes. This second installment to the 3 sisters story was much better than the first. Better character development and more information to the storyline. The pace of the plot was better too.
I like Sandra Burr's voice but she's not the best at differentiating characters. Some she does well but others you do need the “he said”, “she said” to figure out who is talking.
I like the way Roberts makes her fantasy worlds seem perfectly real and believable.
I Very much enjoyed the weaving of the past in to the current time, and the way she showed how Islanders think was right on the mark. (I live on an Island) Sandra Burr does an excelent job of character development, with her voice. It is a story you could listen to and feel it had a good ending, even with the 1 story part of 3 separate stories. Recomended for those who enjoy romance with a little witchery woven into the story line.
