"Henderson's romantic suspense is a satisfying read. She's tweaked the story line just enough to keep the tension taut and the romance springy." (Romantic Times Magazine)

"Danger in the Shadows (unabridged)"
If you have listened to the abridged version, whether you liked it or not, I urge you to listen to the complete version. There is definitely a reason why this book has earned so many awards. It is incredible, very suspenseful. You will find yourself driving around and around the block because you just don't want to stop listening. Dee has the ability to develop full characters, who question their faith -- asking those things we have all asked and yet rarely are willing to allow people to see or know about us. If you are not a person of faith, or find those of us who are challenging to understand, this book, while being extremely entertaining, will give you a glimpse. Plus, Dee just knows how to tell a great believable story. Having read all of her books -- I await each one and purchase it the minute it comes off the press -- I was thrilled to see it had been made into an audible book. The abridged version was extremely disappointing. I am purchasing this one; I know it will be worth listening to again and again.

"should she or shouldn't she???"
I was so disappointed - I love Dee Henderson's stories... but this was just so dragged out! The parts about the events in Sarah's past and the current episodes of intrigue in her life were good, but the CONSTANT ruminating (should he talk to her, should he call her, should she see him, should she talk to him, she shouldn't have seen him, he had done the right thing, she had done the wrong thing... BLAH BLAH BLAH!) It went on and on! What was Dee thinking? The characters became totally BORING because they just sat around wondering what to do and why to do it...
"Loved It!"
This was one of the best audiobooks I have listened to.
The narrator is good, but the women's voices come across a little whiney.
This book made me want to get my hands on the rest of the series!
"Very good read!"
A great book - had some unexpected twists in the storyline. Could not put it down!
"Excellent one of her best"
I understand that there were some negative reviews about this book, and it took me a while to purchase it because of those them, however I really enjoyed this book. In fact I believe that Danger in the Shadows is one of Dee Henderson's best works. I started with The Negotiator and I found it very interesting to get more background on Dave and family prior to Kate. This is a well written book with a believable story line. If you like Dee Henderson then you will not be disappointed with this book.
"Excellent"
This book is one both my husband and I enjoyed. It is well-written and held our attention throughout. In fact, we listened to it at every opportunity. It's one that anyone who appreciates good Christian suspense will enjoy.
"Simplistic Romance"
I haven't read a book like this since I was 13 and outgrew romances. The main character is weak. She behaves like and is treated like a child by both her brother and her new love interest. I listened to the entire book while paiting the trim on my house with my husband. (He was listening the the much more enjoyable 'Other Side of the Story')Every fifteen minutes or so I would scoff and he would remove his headphones so I could share one absurd line or another. If you like simplistic romances, this book is for you. Just not my cup of tea. Although we did have quite a few laughs over it.
"Couldn't hardly put this book away!"
I was so engrossed in the story and plot that I didn't want to do anything but listen to this book.
There are many twists and turns in this story and it kept you sitting on the edge of your sit.
You never really know what is going on in another persons life.
Yes, by making it real in everyday life now.
Nothing! Tom did a wonderful job.
I liked that this book and Dee Hendersons other books are intriguing, but inspirational.
Seriously limited TIME! which is why I love audiobooks. I can do chores and ignore distractions by plugging my ears with my favorite authors
"Well done all around!"
Beautifully written & perfectly narrated! A true romantic suspense without the usual smut! This is a Christian author who lives and writes her ideals. She manages to send a clear message of God's love and how people of true faith live their lives without preaching or diluting the fine tension of the story. Amazing!
Tom Stechschulte is one of the finest narrators I have had the pleasure of hearing. He has done nearly all of Dee Henderson's books and I get the definite sense that he enjoys them as much as I.
Dee Henderson is an amazing author. I wish she had more books out but I believe that quality is far more important then quantity, and quality is something she delivers-IN SPADES! She expresses violence, in defense of bystanders, loved ones, ones country and oneself as the unfortunate necessity it is. Expresses romance and the strong attraction everyone looks for in romance, but with the respect and restraint that is to often missing in fiction and in life. I can read or listen to her works and simply enjoy. I will not be walking or working out then suddenly freeze and go: Wait, did she have to go into THAT kind of detail? In a simple and transparent metaphor: there is no smoke to make you wince or cloud things up, no fire to burn the plot to rubble. Just the heat of action and the kind of warm relaxing steam that even the slightly prudish reader/listener can enjoy any time of day.
Danger in the Shadows is a prequel to the O'Malley Series of which The Guardian is #2 and The Healer is #6 I believe Audible has the rest of them clearly labeled. Check them out and enjoy!

"Excellent story, great narrator."
This was a great story as are all of Dee Henderson's books. It's a great blend of mystery, suspense and romance. Tom Stechschulte is a wonderful narrator and very easy to listen to. With all of Dee Henderson's books, she has proved that you can write a really good book without filling it with sex and profanity. Thank you Dee Henderson.
