"ORIGINAL!! ENTERTAINING!! AND SEXY !!!"
Oh my .... I can say that I truly LOVE this audio book, Born To Darkness, sooooo much, and I would have to say the audio was just as good as reading the book, but maybe even "more" enjoyable because the narrators voices were so perfectly cast on this audio book. The music throughout the audio was haunting and seductive and really added to the mysterious ambience and encouraged you to keep listening. Each character was perfectly portrayed, highly engaging and totally engrossing the listener. Such a great new story line that took on a different avenue which I found thought provoking and a more fulfilling listen. The chapters moved at such an unrestrained pace that as I neared the end, I was like 'noo - there's got to be more!!" Nicole and Alec were love at first sight ... and the "BELIEVABLE" kind at that. Alec was exactly how I would find a male vampire to be in the most erotic, seductive way. I loved the history of the vampires and their ancient beliefs. The side characters were awesome and added a great depth to the overall audio experience.
I think I loved the parts most when Nicole would make herself vulnerable and offer herself to Alec (her romantic counterpart), and Alec would just turn and walk away. What man/vampire in his right mind (or even wrong mine) would walk away from a beautiful woman like that? And he did so, because he loved her that much ! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .......
The discovery's of 'who was who' and WHAT WAS WHAT were the best parts, These are the twists that take you in the direction you were not headed for my friends ....
yes and no. I like for adventures to last, so I wanted the story to continue. It was a good length that gave you just enough of an earful to make you wish it was longer. But then I know this is how more books are sold ... in series and whatnot. So obviously, I'm on the look out for the next book that come after .. YES ... A CLIFFHANGER!!! sigh ...........
Born to Darkness audio book is a "WIN-WIN" on all accounts in the romance-paranormal-fantasy genre. It was surprisingly different from most vampire stories. This is where you will get hooked! .... Go Light Seekers!!!
By the way ... the author should sell black T-shirts that say 'LIGHT SEEKERS-R-US' or something like that. I would buy one!!
Smell the flowers - be aware of the bees - enjoy the rain that waters these.
"THE STORY GETS BETTER IN THE NEXT BOOK"
As far as my 'listening' experience, I thought it was at the top in quality, narration and idea inventiveness. The relationships in the book were many and the female and male narration was really good. Some of the male vampire characters were slightly grating on my ears, but then what 500 year old vampire is going to have a soothing and pleasant voice right? Think about it.
I think Nicole and Dash were my favorites. I know Alec was the hot male lead vampire, and I really did like him, but I tend to like the relationships that evolve out of a great friendship first. I am **hoping** that Dash and Nicole end up together, although right now there is absolutely no **hint** of this happening, I do know there are 3 other books in this series which may shock me to find that they do end up together in the end. I just gotten through Night Breed, the second book, which I totally love. You must give this series a chance. The first book is a decent start, Born to Darkness, but the next book really is, I think, even better and brings the story to new heights in the dark paranormal world, without going too dark.
Great acting voices and emotion in their voices.
You got me thinking on this one!!! OK .. Alec loses Nicole to Dash? How could this have happened??
I bought the second audio book to this Immortal Destiny Series, Night Breed. I am very pleased to see the same narrators have done the next book. I hate it when you really like characters, and you have already matched the 'voice with the characters' and then it is all messed up when it is a different narrator, which also brings a different emotion to each character. Anyway, this series is turning out to be a definite good listen.
"I'm Here to Stay!!"
"WHY I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW - BECAUSE I MUST !!!!"
I ALREADY HAVE!!
FINDING OUT WHO NICOLE'S FATHER WAS.
I SO LOVED THE NARRATORS WIDE VARIETY OF NATIVE DIALECTS PERFORMED FOR THE MANY CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK, BORN TO DARKNESS. THE CHEMISTRY WAS REALLY STRONG IN THE DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS BOOK, AND NOT JUST 'READ' BY A NARRATOR ... YOU COULD FEEL THE TENSION BUILDING WITH THESE CHARACTERS - THE FEAR, THE DREAD, THE PASSION, THE SUSPENSE, EXCITEMENT, AND LOSSES ... WHICH IS MUCH BETTER DONE WITH BOTH A FEMALE AND MALE NARRATOR ( DESTINY LANDON & LEE JAMES) AS THEY PERFORMED EACH GENDER ROLE FLAWLESSLY. READING THE BOOK WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE, BUT IF YOU GET THE RIGHT NARRATORS LIKE LORRAINE ACCOMPLISHED ON HER BOOK BORN TO DARKNESS, THAN THE AUDIO WAS BETTER - JUST REALLY DID ENJOY THIS AUDIO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT AUDIO BOOK IN THIS SERIES. I FOUND MYSELF LOST IN THE CHARACTERS, AKIN TO A MOVIE THAT IS PERFECTLY CAST. THE NARRATION WAS A PERFECT PACE - NOT TOO SLOW AND NOT ANNOYINGLY FAST. THE SHORT SHOTS OF HAUNTING MUSIC THAT CONNECTED THE CHAPTERS AND KEPT ME LISTENING (CLEVER!!), WERE REALLY WELL DONE AND ADDED A TOUCH OF INTEREST TO THE AUDIO.
PROBABLY THE LOSS OF JAY AND HOW ONE EVENT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE ... FOREVER.
This comment is my response to a review on Born To Darkness by MirjonaTirana, Albania 09-26-12 - DEAR MIRJONA, YOU WROTE A BAD REVIEW FOR THE WRONG BOOK!!!!! YOU MENTIONED "LONG PAUSES" BETWEEN CHAPTERS, A DULL STORY AND DULL NARRATION?????" MY GOD!! ! THIS AUDIO WAS NOT DULL!! AND THE CHAPTERS HAD BEAUTIFUL HAUNTING/SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC JOINING THE CHAPTERS, SO THERE WERE NO PAUSES ANYWHERE! THERE WERE SEVERAL NARRATORS ON THIS BOOK WHO PERFORMED MAGNIFICENTLY A WIDE VARIETY OF DIALECTS AND PERSONALITIES. I AM TIRED OF SEEING BAD RATINGS FROM JEALOUS TROLLS ON THE WEB WHO JUST MAKE IT A HABIT TO BRING DOWN POPULAR, RESPECTED AUTHORS.
"This book should be combined with the others!"
I just finished Wolves and Black Roses (my favorite of all three books thus far). This first book, Born to Darkness was a very good start, but the story gets really good in the second and third books. I really think book one and two should be combined so you see how full and more complete and original this story really is. The narration is just fantastic in all three books. I highly recommend this series. You must get books 1 & 2 "together" which will fully satisfy your readers needs and will help you decide to go on with book 3 (which you must, because it is HOT! and again, has an open ending for the next book.

"BAD - REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD"
Amateur recording - sounded like it was done in an empty bathtub, naff rubbish music, didn't finish it and just don't get me started on the plot.
Worth a credit? - Not in this lifetime !!!
"disappointed"
No, this book was one of the worst I just wish I'd listen to first book before buy the second book. The story was not even that good an I listen to alot of paranomal audio books.
No pause between chapters. Music very distracting. and the two differant reader was very distracting an just bad.
They had two differant readers an it was just terrble
No
Just wish I had not bought other book don't know if i can make it through another book. Hate to wast credit:(
"TERRIBLE"
I found this book terrible, the narration horrid and I didn't even finish listening it was that bad. Total waist of money.
"Worst book I have ever listen"
The narration was dull, there were to many long pauses between the chapters. At first I thought that maybe something was wrong with my Audible but as the narration progressed I understood that was a problem of the Audio Book. I didn't like the story as well, it should have been more developed.
I was not only the Author but probably not again.
