Hip-hop artist Tip "T.I." Harris has received every acclaim the music world has to offer. Now, working with bestselling celebrity collaborator David Ritz, T.I. applies all his talent and experience to the world of fiction by creating the epic love story of Power and Beauty.
After the death of his mother, Charlotte, Paul “Power” Clay allows himself to be guided by Slim, a local businessman. Slim always has the best of everything, and Power is sure that if he learns Slim's ways, he'll make something of himself - and perhaps be worthy of Tanya “Beauty” Long. From Chicago to Miami to New York, through drugs, women, and violence, Power makes the difficult transition from boy to man and, in doing so, begins to question if those who have taught him - including Slim - truly have his best interests at heart.
Beauty has always known that the only person she can rely on is herself. After her mother died when she was eleven years old, she was adopted by close family friend Charlotte Clay. But with Charlotte's death, Beauty knows she's no longer safe and protected - especially as Power gets sucked into a new kind of life. As soon as she can, she turns her back on Atlanta - and the growing love she feels for Power--for a chance to make it in the Big Apple. With a successful fashion career on the horizon, Beauty takes New York by storm with her wit, business savvy, and breathtaking good looks. But she's never forgotten those she left behind. And when it becomes clear that Power needs her, Beauty will risk everything to save the man she loves.

"Awful read!"
I love T.I. but this book was horrible! The story spent so much time detailing the lives and history of the people the main characters (Power & Beauty) were suppose to be "learning" from, the story line between the two main characters was never developed. I suffered through the entire story to be even more disappointed with the ending. Do not waste your time or money!!!
LIFE just happens that way sometimes!
"Suprised by T.I.'s story telling skills"
I never thought T.I. had it in him I am amazed. I enjoyed listening to this book and hoping that there will be another book which im sure they are working on. The story started off grabbing the readers attention and throughout the book the charcaters roles as they got older was well defined. The thing I like best about the book is how you got to know each character and why they played a role in POWER and BEAUTY's life. There is a big difference between males and females and I realized in this book that most of the time women have a better sense of character then men, and it was evident in this book that Beauty's vibe regarding SLIM was correct. I was shocked that this book had me so entranced and wanting to hear more. The narrator did an amazing job on his performance.
"Where/When is Part 2?"
Yes, this was a good book.. It was really interesting and the characters were really well developed. Two people who come from the same place can go in such different directions!
Wanda, she knew everything and everybody. (she thought)
He was so great! When I first heard Slim's voice I would have sworn that Ving Rhames was narrating!
Wanda, I would love to sit and listen to her talk about everything!
I choose this book because of TI and it was only $5 but I was delightfully surprised. But the ending left me hanging and wanting more. I want to know how Power and Beauty's story ends.
"I liked this one- sexy & mysterious"
I like audio- I listen while I drive and work out.

I didnt take T.I. for a writer- good story

"Satisfied"
It was a surprisingly good book. I didn't know T.I. had it in him. I thought it would be about his life but the story line was very good.I especially enjoyed listening to it on audible. The ending was a little disappointing as it left you totally hanging. But I can say I can not wait for book 2.
I don't want to spoil it as it is a very interesting read.

"Great narrator"
I read a lot of books all different categories. This ranks up there only because I didn't expect a lot from the author or the book. But it was a decent read/listen.

"The ending is a cliffhanger... to be continued"
The ending is a cliffhanger... to be continued. I didn't really like that aspect of it.
Also, both Power and Beauty both 16 at the start of the story, don't give you a sense that they are teenagers. They act like grown 40 year-olds without any teenage angst or 'tudes'. Entertaining but not real.
