"Wonderful Romantic Tension"
Kelly is in the Colonial American Christian Writers group and I am so looking forward to her colonial Amish books when they release. In the meantime, I listened to this as my first "read" of her work. She knocked my socks off (well if it weren't summer she would have!) Beautiful voice, gripping story line, great characterization, and the best romantic tension I have seen since Deanne Gist. Not your average Amish novel! I highly recommend this book and this writer and just downloaded another of her audible.com books. I saw she has a novella with several other authors, including Cindy Woodsmall. I do wonder why when I searched "Amish" this book did not pull up.
I think I have found another favorite author! Looking forward to listening to her next book and many more after that one!
"ive listened twice"
the story grabbed me from the beginning not a typical beginning of an amish romance ive followed this series and was suprised by jacobs actions from the eairlier book and i have listened twice so far i do that sometimes but not so soon after i listened the first time this is my fav at this time great listen
"Wonderful"
So very enjoyable a listen. I enjoy sewing while the story unwinds. Not as detailed as some of the others by this author, but soulful.
"best of the series"
the story wasnt typical it was delightfull and funny i enjoyed it and have listend several times since i bought it
"Masterfully done and lovely story"
No doubt, the narrator Christine Williams made this one of my favorite audiobooks. Her voice is so soothing and she captures all emotions perfectly without over-dramatizing it. Lily is a simple teacher who gets caught up in a loveless marriage through a fluke and is now committed to a man who loves another. But Jakob has integrity and gives their marriage time to enter into a different phase as they get to know each other and learn love. They treat each other with respect, and each conflict is resolved with love and understanding, that it's clear they love each other, but they don't seem to know it.Beautifully told story. Well worth it!
Jakob was my favorite. He was so conflicted, but he handled so much of his topsy-turvy life with dignity.
Christine is now my favorite narrator by far. I could listen to her read the dictionary and thoroughly enjoy it! Soothing, so very well read. I don't think any other narrator could read this or anything else as well.
Well, I nearly did. I stayed up until 2am listening and anywhere I went in the car, my iPod went with me to listen while I drove.
