Publisher's Summary

At age 19, pilot Dale Black miraculously survived an airplane crash that killed the other two pilots on board. Hovering between life and death for three days, he had a breathtaking experience of heaven. Against all odds and with insurmountable injuries, Capt. Black recovered from his injuries and returned to fly airplanes as a professional pilot, airline pilot instructor, and jet flight examiner. For 40 years he kept the story to himself at the urging of his grandfather to "live" his experience rather than talk about it.

The flight to heaven changed Dale's life, and now he allows it to be told in hopes of encouraging others with this wondrous experience.Download the accompanying reference guide.

I'm a lawyer and mediator. I represent businesses in disputes with their insurers and in other complex litigation. I also assist machinery companies and manufacturers (primarily international) with equipment sales, non-disclosure agreements, and business issues. I also mediate commercial disputes.

"Great Story of Recovery and Faith"

Dale Black's story of his recovery from a terrible airplane crash is in itself inspirational. He fights through the rehabilitation and the experts telling him a full recovery is not possible.

Dale fully believes he went to heaven, and credits his Christian faith for getting him through. Dale narrates the story himself, and, although he is not a great narrator, his sincerity absolutely comes through. I would have preferred if the book had been organized differently (it bounces back and forth between events happening years later and the story of the crash and his recovery), but that's simply a matter of preference. Overall, it is a fascinating and inspirational book.

Listeners should be aware that this book is very evangelical. If that is not your cup of tea, this book is not for you.

A very good and well written story line. As a Christian we have our own vision of Heaven. Mr. Black gives us a beautiful glimps of the after life and Heaven. I did enjoy hearing the author reading the book. I have been telling everyone that I care about to read or listen to the book.

    Any additional comments?

I'm sorry, I just found this story to be rambling. I tried to stick with it because I wanted to hear about the author's trip to heaven, but he took so long to get to it and took so many side trips, I gave up.

    "Very good book."
Where does Flight to Heaven rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The book is read by the author. I thought it was easy to follow along and he kept your interest.

What did you like best about this story?

He described what heaven was like and how he had changed after the crash.

Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The only survivor of a horrific plane crash, Dale was hovering between life and death when he had a wondrous experience of heaven. What he saw, what he heard, and what he learned there continues to ripple through his life and touch others.

Against all odds, Dale miraculously recovered from his injuries and learned to fly again.

    Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book to others. A remarkable story.

    "Some inconsistencies of fact"

I bought this book because a close friend has suffered severe injuries in a motor accident. While the story is told with conviction and seemed to be true the final account of the landing in Lusaka Zambia is questionable. Zambia has never imposed weeks long country-wide blackouts. Zambians, as a nation, are not generally giants of over six foot tall. I find it hard to believe that the aircraft that landed at Lusaka - on a date omitted in the book - was met by amazon military and their amazon wives in a Zambia where I am sure there never was prolonged nationwide blackout. These small facts puts into question the entire veracity of the author's experience.
