The only thing that matters in the world is fame, and all people are constantly monitored as though they are contestants in a global talent competition. In the blink of an eye, absolutely anyone can suddenly become famous.
Listen to more in the Uglies series, including Specials and Pretties.

“Just as thrilling as its predecessors, but it’s also a thoughtful novel of ideas, a brilliant parody of the modern obsession with fame.” (New York Times)
"Same world different theme"
Really liked this book a lot....would have given it another half star if I could. It is a great new story and a follow up. I wasn't sure I was ready for another book in this world after the great trilogy (Uglies, Pretties & Specials)! It is different, the same.....but new and really well written and read. Some of the old characters emerge in this book but in a fun twist. If you were a fan of the trilogy, you'll love this one too!
"Why?"
I liked this series, but there was no need for this book. Specials wrapped everything up nicely, and Extras was a weak follow up and a weird fit. I would not recommend it to anyone who really enjoyed the series.
"Interesting concept"
I read the first three books as well and wasn't in love with any of them. They, and this one, were entertaining enough but kind of immature and underdeveloped. The concept of a different economy like fame was cool, though.
I liked that Tally came back into the picture even though this was obviously took place a few years later and in Japan (I assumed.)
It won't be a deeply thought provoking listen, but entertaining enough to do once.

"Disappointing"
I really liked the first three books, but this one just did not capture me like the others. I found the main characters (Aya and her brother and friend) were less interesting than even the bubble-headed pretties. Even in a city that uses one's reputation as currency, Aya's behavior was quite lame and actually disgusting at times.
The struggles of the other books seemed possible and difficult to adjust to, but this book just did not hold my interest. Saddest of all, it seemed that Aya just could not learn through her experiences.

"Wonderful Extra!"
I just loved being tossed back into the world of Uglies!
I liked all of the characters!
You know the first book, you can't stand her voice. But her voice grows on you! I like Shays voice the best
Out of this world!
This was a great follow up to the Uglies series. It gave closure and or a new beginning!
