"Raw & Real"
I absolutely love Joe Picket so perhaps I am biased, but this is is a extremely well read audio book, the listener can hear the pain and emotion that only David Chandler can display. The story itself is intense, real and super raw. It is graphic and cutting edge. I highly recommend!! A++
"Really a great listen"
The way the author can discribe the simplest things for a eletric heater to the dust created by a spooked Pronghorn. C.J.Box makes the book very educational, very entertaining and suppensfull. Can't to listen to the next in the series. Recomend highly if you like to hunt and fish or concerned with the issues of saving the wilderness.
Yes, Nate adds an edgy side to the story
Nate,
Yes if possible. A great traveling book. Still great to listen in 10 to 20 minute intervals if you can shut it off. I will wait in my parking stall to hear what happens
I highly recommend it . The way he describes the sun, wind, light and feeling of the environment is amazing.
"Not my favorite but not bad"
This wasn't bad. A little depressing to me. It seemed nothing ever went right for Pickett and his family. This wasn't a favorite, and if it had been the first I read I'm not sure I would have continued the series. But of course, now I have to keep reading to see what happens to Joe next.
"Joe's great, even if you're not a hunter."
The characters and storyline are full and rich.
Reading the series in sequence adds the dimension of knowing the characters and watching them grow.
David's a real pro with great attention to voice alterations for the characters.
I chuckled often during this book... and wanted to "hear" it straight through.
"The first book in a fantastic series"
Narrator is always a pleasure.
You are absorbed from minute one.
love the character interaction.
The introduction to the characters.
Cannot wait to go to the next book in the series.
"gratuitous violence"
We put down this book after the first chapter for all the gratuitous violence and foul language denigrating women.
