If this were a normal description for a normal audiobook, I would tell you that this story is fantastic! Gripping! (According to their blurbs, all books are fantastic and gripping.) You'd meet the brave young heroes, Cass and Max Ernest*. And you'd hear about how a mysterious box of vials, the symphony of smells, sends them on the trail of a magician who has vanished under strange (and Stinky) circumstances.
If this were a normal audiobook, I would brag about the hair-raising adventures that follow - about the brain-twisting riddles Cass and Max Ernest solve and the nefarious villains they face. But, sadly, I can't tell you about any of those things: they might make you want to listen to the book.
You see, not only is the name of this book secret, the story is, too. For it concerns a secret - a big secret -that has been tormenting people like you for over...oh no! Did I just mention the Secret? Then it's too late.
I'm afraid nothing will stop you now. Listen to the book if you must. But, please, tell no one."
With apologies,

"Where are books 2 and 4?"
This is the first book in P.B.'s Secret series. Only two in the series, this one and the third one, are on audio, which is a shame. The narration for this one is, in a word, perfect. I wish this narrator had done book 3 (This book is not good for you), but he didn't. The narrator's rendition of the Bergamo brothers is hilarious. You will love this.
"a well loved book about secrets"
My son LOVES this book! he has listened to this book multiple times and has never tired of it.
he read the book alongside and enjoys the mystery and closeness of cass and max earnest. the story is exceptionally well paced and written. we look forward to the narrator's next project of if you're reading this its too late.
a quality recording with inflections and emotions.
"Loved it!"
We listened to this on a car ride and loved it!! I have a 7 year old boy and an 11 year old boy and they were absolutely enthralled in the imaginative story. Not a peep from them throughout the car ride--we hated to have to take any breaks in the story. Quality of the audiobook was great. Narrator was pleasant. The kids have made me promise to get the next story
"Books 1, 3, 4, and 5, but NO BOOK #2???"
Audible has books 1, 3, 4, and 5 in this series, but no book 2. This makes no sense. At all.
"MAKES MY 9 YEAR OLD LOVE TO READ!!!"
My 9 year old and I really enjoyed this book. We loved the way the narrator brings life to the story. We looked forward to our drive to and from school everyday and sometimes we'd get home and sit in the car and continue listening. We are now reading the second book. My son is looking forward to listening to book 3, since book 2 isn't available on audible.
"AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!"
I think that this is as good as the book, but is is SO much more convenient to listen to the book instead.
I liked the different personalities of the characters. MAX EARNEST IS HILARIOUS!
I liked the scene when Cass and Max-Earnest find their gifts.
Not particuarly, but I liked how her mother acted towards Cass.
WHERE IS BOOK TWO???????? seriously, you have 1,3,4, and 5, but no two!
"No AudioBook 2!!! Why????"
I loved this whole series except the last book, but would like to know why there is NO AUDIOBOOK 2. ("If your reading this its too late"). Loved the narration for this series, write more books using these narrators.
Thanks
"A good listen for all ages"
My 11 year old niece picked this book for us to listen to while on a long road trip. The story made us all laugh as we drove along the highway
A fun story for all ages
"My Daughter Loved this Book"
I haven't listened to this book, but my daughter has, several times. She really enjoyed it and I could hear her laughing out loud again and again while listening. Indeed, she liked this book so much that she was on pins and needles waiting for the release of the next book in this series.
"We liked it!"
An entertaining book
The book is similar to the Benedict Society. Of course the kids are the heros that save the world from evil take over.
He did a great job reading.
No
While the under cover names and such was an alluring concept for a book, the first chapter or two almost drove us crazy! It kept trying to convince you not to read the book for your own safety! Which was funny the first few minutes but it seemed to go on and on! Reading the book would have made it easier to skip those pages and move on. The book is good despite the slow start. The idea of smell communication and confusion of the senses was original. You'll like this book if you can make it past the intro.
