Jordan has always led a cautious life and has used her intelligence and reason to become a successful businesswoman. So she is intrigued but skeptical of the professor's claims that the feud has been kept alive by the grave injustices the Buchanans have perpetrated over the centuries. But when Noah Clayborne, a close family friend and a man who has never let a good time or a pretty girl pass him by, accuses Jordan of being trapped in her comfort zone, she determines to prove him wrong and sets out on a spontaneous adventure to the small, dusty town of Serenity, Texas, to judge the professor's research for herself.
Maneuvering through a close-knit community in which everyone knows everyone else's business, Jordan never anticipates the danger and intrigue that lie in her path, nor the threat that will shadow her back to Boston, where even in familiar surroundings, her life is at risk.
A powerful thug who rules by fear, a man who harbors a simmering secret, and an unexpected romance that pierces all defenses - beloved author Julie Garwood weaves these dazzling elements into a brilliant novel of romantic suspense.

I am a retired Court Reporter and I LOVE books. All kinds of books but my favorites are mysteries and period books. I like civil war books and some biographies.
It is such a great story. I love the times that it took place in. A lot of drama and love and adventure in a perfect combination. I've listened to it three times
I live in Michigan and have been a member of auible since it's onset. Hobbies are photography and writing...I am in the process of formatting my first novel for kindle and I hope everyone will read it. I LOVE AUDIBLE and listen to at least 3 unabridged books a month. !
I love a good chick story, but this was so sappy and sickening........I fought through part one and was able to listen to a couple of chapters of part two.......until: I couldn't go on! I always
listen to my entire audiobooks...even if I'm not that crazy about the story........But this author and this sap.......was untolerable...Sorry!
This author is awesome but the narrator's voice was so irritating that I couldn't finish the book I have several books written by this author and they are all excellent. Don't let this narrator keep you from reading other books by this author.
This narrator should not have tried to use an accent. It was so irritating, I still haven't gone back to finish the book.
