J.C. Holderfield brought law and order to the lawless frontier of Texas in the mid-eighteen hundreds and became known far and wide as “The Town Tamer.” His reputation for cleaning up a town was backed up by his fast gun and made him sought after by the law-abiding citizens and feared by those that would prey on them.

"Great Author - Touching Story!"
I became interested in Westerns after reading Louis L'Amour. Having read or listen to most of his books I've tried venturing out to other Westerns, but have been disappointed for the most part.
I found "The Town Tamer" to be a refreshing aside from the regular "shootem-up" Westerns written by many Western authors. It actually tells a story--it's about a boy raised on a farm, working with his father in the fields since he was 6. When he was thirteen he not only lost both of his parents, but the bank took his farm. Alone in the world, except for his mule and his fathers rifle he sets out on his own...
It's a very touching story, so be ready to laugh and cry as J. C. becomes a man.
Don Ransom did a good job narrating the story with feeling.
This was my first Dusty Rhodes western, but not the last.
If you want something a little different in a Western, this is the book for you.

"Westerns are my thing."
The story, action and plot was outstanding in my opinion. Mr. Rhodes wrote a fine novel which was to my taste in this story. The main character was quiet a character. I looked forwarded each night before I retired to listing again to a few chapters, but I did not want to put my Kindle away. His story kept my instrest from begining to end. I would purchace other books by him and be quiet assured that I would be satisfied with them.
I have not found such a book on the same line dealing with such a charcter as his (J. C. Holderfied) and the accomplishments he had for such a young boy.
I was very inpressed with MrRanson's naration of this novel. For his adaption of voice's I must say he did more than a good job. He narated voice's for quiet a few characters and was good at it. I was most impressed at how he never mixed up voice's for each. He appeard to have a deep voice, but he could change it to each and remember how each sounded never forgetting who was whom. Kudos to him for a job well done.
I was moved by the way he treated his love one and put her above all.
Even though Mr. Ranson did a nice job I believe the audio would have been much inproved with the right sex speaking the naration. That is why I gave this book only 4 star rating.
