    "Could have been much better"
What would have made Running Blind better?

Not as enjoyable as the other Jack Reacher Series books that I've heard. Main story idea was fine. The FBI characters were written and portraied as obnoxious and stupid. That, and the overall narration, were strong distraction as I lisened.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'll probably continue with the Jack Reacher Series until I tire.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan McClain’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is a McClain narration. I did not care for his performance.

What character would you cut from Running Blind?

Make the law enforcement characters seem more professional.

    Any additional comments?

    No.

    "Good Story But Surprise Narrator"

The narrator, to be fair, did a good job. To me, however, Jack Reacher IS narrator Dick Hill. Therefore I was a little disappointed. It is an exciting story and I recommend it.

I like mysteries, not gory or too much romance. I can stand a little. I like law enforcement, lawyers and espionage, not to complicated.

    "Where is Dick Hill?"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

This narrator is okay, but he IS NOT Jack Reacher. Please bring Dick Hill back.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    Okay.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

As I said, the narrator is okay, but not as Jack Reacher. There's only one voice for Jack Reacher and that voice is Dick Hill.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, especially with Tom Cruise in the role of Jack Reacher. Are you kidding me? He no longer has respect as a actor, and he is about as opposite to Jack Reacher as he can be.

    Any additional comments?

    Bring back Dick Hill.

    "Not My Favorite Reacher..."

It seems like the story was weak and fluffed up . The plot wasn't that great and the punchline was weaker. Seems to be something that was written without much thought. Dissappointed....hope the next is better.

"running blind with a surprise around the corner"
What made the experience of listening to Running Blind the most enjoyable?

The story line was great and McClain brought it to life.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the many twists to the story line, just when it would start to get lost in details a new turn was added. I also liked the attitude towards the FBI.

Which character – as performed by Jonathan McClain – was your favorite?

Reacher was my favorite character, what guy doesn't see himself as the tragic hero.

    Any additional comments?

I will be listening to this again.

On one hand if your a Reacher fan you have to read this book.
On the other hand if you've read other of his books and come back to this one like I did you will regret it.
This doesn't even sound like a Reacher book, the performance not him, the story not him, the way he speaks not him. I did not enjoy this book at all.
But... like me, you have to listen to it because it's a Reacher book. Try to enjoy.

"McClain a terrible narrator for this series"
Would you consider the audio edition of Running Blind to be better than the print version?

Audible's offering of this book not by usual narrator, Dick Hill. McClain is not a good narrator. So Dick Hill's audio would be better than print version. He brings it to life. McClain makes you not even want to listen; in fact, I didn't, and I returned it.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I like all the Reacher books. Fun to really listen to the dialog to pick up clues before Reacher does.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I couldn't even finish listening to McClain. In fact, I started researching why I thought he was so bad. I previously listened to all the Reacher audiobooks which I got from the library. All books were narrated by Dick Hill - and he did an awesome job. I discovered Audible didn't offer the Dick Hill read. Didn't realize there could be different narrators for the same book. Just assumed it was the same as what I got from the library. So...if you're really familiar with a book series, check narrators before ordering from Audible. Luckily Audible is gracious about letting you return books with which you are unhappy.

    Any additional comments?

Wish Audible would offer all the Reacher books narrated only by Dick Hill.

I am an avid reader going through multiple books every month; a library in the thousands. Fiction or Non-fiction, you write it I read it.

    "FB Who?"

Ok I've had to deal with some federal types in my career and most of them don't fit the corner that Lee Child tries painting the FBI into in this book. I can think of three specifically though that could be exact copies of the "moron" feds in this book, but they are all desk jockies that never would have a case this big. I would never call any of the feds I've dealt with "over-bright", but never this stupid and never this crooked. And even though I know the chances of Lee Child ever reading this are slim, just a heads up. Someone that stupid and crooked, would have a very hard time climbing the ranks in law enforcement. You might end up with one, but a whole department of them? No. Most of your problems are either stupid OR crooked. The stupid ones are usually straight arrows and the crooked ones are usually wicked smart. Both find their way to the top but never do you have the trifecta of stupid, crooked, and all powerful. That was my only complaint with the book and the only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5. Child held true to his story and really did a good job of filling it out to give you a lot of differant suspects.

Again J. McClain does a good job as Jack Reacher, but he just doesn't do a great job. To get this up to 5 stars would require Dick Hill.

What would have made Running Blind better?

The FBI portrayal was so dumb I was incredulous. Insane depiction of a professional law enforcement agency.

    "Horrible."

It was a pain to listen to. I still have 4 hours of listening to go and I don't want to listen anymore. On top of a passable storyline, this may be the poorest narration I've ever heard. Full of exaggerations and skewed facts (like acetone described as a thick liquid... it's less viscous than water), I felt stupid for even keeping on listening to it for so long.
