"Guilty Pleasure"
I should not admit this, but I loved these short stories by Steve Vernon. I understand he writes a lot of horror and I am going to find more of his stuff.
I am going to lose a few followers over this as they wonder what kind of weirdo I am, but I found these stories to be funny, intelligent, imaginative and very different. (very, very different.) Some people will be shocked. The language is bad, very bad. It is gory and there is rape. I like Abercrombe and George R. R. Martin, but this guy makes there stuff look sugar coated.
There are three stories and I found that I liked the last one, which did not have much bad language or sexual subject matter, to be the best.

"Lives up to it's dark, edgy claim."
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?Only with a brief warning.
What do you think your next listen will be?I think I need a Artemus Fowl story.
Which scene was your favorite?The initial scene when he rescues a woman being raped.. only after she's being raped. His drowning scene was interesting but vague.. not sure how he covers his body with the eel.
Did Nothing to Lose inspire you to do anything?Only to write this review as a warning.
Any additional comments?I am a big fan of George Martin and Joe Abercrombie but Steve Vernon goes far beyond them to new heights, or lows, of dark, gory script.

don't even bother this is trash your going to read this and feel like you waisted your money and time.
