No one wants to be this teacher's pet.
The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee’s no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee - she screams when someone dies.
But the next scream might be for Kaylee. Yeah, it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend’s needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck - before he discovers they aren’t quite human, either.
But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life. Anything.

"Best of the series!"
Everything from the previous books comes together to make this Soul Screamers novel the best one yet. From start to finish it's packed with eyebrow-raising action, heart-thumping emotion, and torturous suspense. If you've been following this series this is a must read!

"The Best Soul Screamer Yet"
"If I Die" is definitely a game changer in the Soul Screamer series, but what a ride! Normally I use my audio books on my commute to and from work, but this one had me so on the edge of my seat that I had to bring it inside and listen to the rest of the book, sitting at my computer desk! Rachel Vincent has such a solid handle on Kaylee and on the mythic world, which has never shone so well as in this installment, with its inclusion not just of bean sidhes and reapers but incubi and syphons. I particularly continue to love how the mythic elements exist in an otherwise completely realistic world of high-school, parents, best friends, and teen jobs. Her greatest strength remains the other characters we've come to know and love (or love to hate): Emma, Nash, Tod, Sabine, Alec, even Sophie. But this may be the first time (despite my love for all the books) that I've found myself talking to my radio as I drive: "No!" (there are a minimum of three amazing plot twists that drew that out), and "No no no," when I couldn't believe something was about to happen (at least twice), and even "Kiss her!" The plotting and pacing have gone past wonderful and hit stellar. I'm so relieved to know another installment (well, a novella) will be available in January 2012, and eagerly await it. Thank you, Rachel, for the excellent read!
"Very exciting."
If I die by Rachel Vincent is one of the top books in the series. There are many twists and turns that are fantastic. The game changing ending will leave you speechless and wanting more.
Paranormal-urban fantasy book lover!
""Emotional Ride & Amazing Story""
Worthy of buying!
Tod - he is so selfless and so good but hardly let's anyone in on the good he does.
Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators. I will buy a book just because she is the narrator. She brings the right emotions to each character and even if you start somewhere in the middle you will always know who the character is when she narrates.
I bought the "nice girls" & "Naked Werewolf" series by Molly Harper based solely that she was narrating and I am so glad I did.
The entire book was a suspenseful and emotional ride. I HAD to finish this book in one setting.
I did not think there were any more original paranormal urban fantasy books out there but I was wrong. Start with the first book which gives the back story and then read the rest. They are all worth the credits.
I'm a librarian, knitter, crochetter... I love audiobooks because I can knit and "read" at the same time.
"It's the best..."
... Soul Screamer until now!!! Sooo good! I cried, I laughed and all the betweens... Hope the next one comes soon...
"Pretty good, with reservations.."
I have followed this series from the start, and this is probably the best book in the series so far. I had a few reasons I could not give it all five stars, which I will try to give without spoiling the storyline for those who have not read or listened to it yet.
The good: the story is well written. The story is definitely action packed and it WILL keep you on the edge of your seat because just mere pages into the story we find out that the main character, Kaylee's, name has appeared on the Reaper list as scheduled to die in one week. And even worse, her soul was already given an extension once before when her mother died for her so this means that this time, Kaylee has no second chance according to the Reaper rules, there is nothing that can be done, no exchange that can be worked out to save her. Kaylee decides to spend the possible last week of her life trying to save the girls in her school from the new math teacher, who is an incubus. He is impregnating human girls and humans will die while trying to carry an uncubus fetus to term. He has his sights set on Emma, Kaylee's best friend, so she teams up with Nash and Sabine to try to stop the Incubus. Throughout this Kaylee tries to cope with the knowledge that she is scheduled to die and neither her dad nor Tod can find a way to save her, so her lifeline is ticking away,or is it? And her love life changes in a major way. So why did I take a star off? For one, a certain character has been completely ruined throughout this series. It doesn't work well for me to see how this character began and how this character is behaving now. Verging on unredeemable,I don't know how the author will rehabilitate this character or if she wants to. And finally, the ending. It was action packed and good, but a bit of a cop out. One plot twist was awesome, and it's not what you think (someone who died a final death and was not supposed to be able to, comes back almost right away! And it's not Kaylee!) As for Kaylee....I'm not telling.
"Best One Yet"
As a fan of most of Vincent's books, I have to say that I enjoyed this particular one the most. The character development and new dimensions to the story has rekindled my interest in Kaylee's story!
I have a real crazy in love relationship with books!!!
"Awesome! Hilarious! Memorable!"
I'm not sure how high on the list it is, but it is definitely on the higher end. I greatly enjoyed it.
I loved Caylee (could be spelling that wrong), the main character. She was hilarious. I appreciated when she admitted that she was confused. She was quirky and ultimately believable, not matter how much the story isn't lol. She had a real human element that I think every girl can identify with.
She is awesome as usual. She makes the funniest parts even funnier. In all honesty, I enjoyed the entire performance.
While trying not to be to much of a spoiler, I liked how Caylee's relationship with Todd expanded and how it developed.
This is a pretty awesome book. If you are looking for excitement, a little love, and a ton of humor...this is the book for you. I would have gladly used my credit for this, but I paid cash. This is a great book for any day, no matter if you are feeling up or down!
"Never Disappointed!!"
I absolutely love the audio version! The narrator did such an awesome job that there is no way you can't get attached to the characters!
Todd was my favorite in this one. He is so selfless and always there for Kaylee.
Kaylee. I may not be a banshee hero but I can't help but relate in many ways.
I cried and laughed and that alone says a lot about a book. At the end of every book this series, I'm always sad to have to wait so long before the next one! I'm definitely sure that having such a great narrator only made me love this series even more!!!
This a must read series!!
