Charlie West just woke up in someone else's nightmare. He's strapped to a chair. He's covered in blood and bruises. He hurts all over. And a strange voice outside the door just ordered his death. The last thing he can remember is that he was a normal high-school kid doing normal things: working on his homework, practicing karate, daydreaming of becoming an Air Force pilot, writing a pretty girl's number on his hand. How long ago was that? Where is he now? Who is he really? And more to the point.... How is he going to get out of this room alive?

"Not Just For Kids!"
The main character is a teen-ager, but the book held this grandmother's interest every step of the way. My only complaint is that it didn't really resolve anything at the end. Most books that have sequels usually sort of tie things up, so that each book can stand alone. This was more like part one of a single book. It actually ended right in the middle of a situation, just leaving the reader hanging. I felt as if I'd bought a book and suddenly discovered someone had torn out the last few chapters. Or, as if I was watching a movie on tv and the power went off, leaving me frustrated that I didn't know how it ended. Having said all that, I will definitely be buying the sequels. I just hate that it's going to cost two credits to basically listen to one book. Or maybe three credits, depending on how the second book ends.
"Riveting story"
I don't have a whole lot to add that the item description doesn't already say, but the story is a nail-biting adventure that keeps the listener on edge. Swanson's performance is excellent. Even though this series is considered YA, adults will love it to for the suspense and action.
"Who can you trust?"
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and puzzles.
Charlie West, was of course the best character.
This is the first time I heard Joshua Swanson perform and I was impressed.
Charlie West is put through the ringer and throughout the book I kept hoping for some relief for him. In a way, he is like James Bond in that he has some great talents but he needs his brains to put those talents to his best advantage. Unlike Bond, he has no backup. There is no country, no spy network, to support him. He is totally on his own...at least at this point. I can't wait to listen to the next installment.
I love listening to audio books but only rate them five stars if they really hold my attention. An average listen gets three.
"I can't wait to see what happens next"
The story was very engrossing. I am very intrigued by how the main character wound up in the situation he is in. Ii'd say more but don't want to give anything away. If you like mysteries, this is compelling.
"Highly recommend"
Great action packed YA story, I think adults and teens will both be glad they bought this story.
