I'm a avid Cussler fan and just can't get enough of the Oregon files, or anything else he has to offer to the audio books library. As for the way the story ends, it just leaves you wanting and needing more, soon! If your want excitement, here it is, The Silent Sea won't disappoint you. Clive Cussler always keeps you guessing right until the end about the outcome even though you're pretty well assured the central characters will make it out okay. The Silent Sea is no different. It is a thrill ride every moment.

I am always amazed at the depth of study performed to write each book. It is even more amazing to see how Cussler and his co authors make ancient facts relevant to the adventurer.

The Silent Sea unites South America and some of her political intrigues with the Antarctic and Mainland China. Smack in the middle of it all is Juan Cabreo and the crew of the Oregon. A unique twist you will find here is "Who gets the girl."

Scott Brick is marvelous as a reader. We primarily use the CD's when driving. We arrive home in the driveway and find ourselves still sitting there listening. Then we begin to speculate upon when the next trip, EVEN TO THE STORE, will be.

This is a 5 star and always will be unless...there is a sixth star added. Move it on fellas

Just my second Clive Clusser/Jack Du Brul "Oregon" audiobook. As usual,Scott Brick does yeoman duty bringing the story to life. It would be great if such real life do good pirates existed in our world! Needless to say, a whirlwind story, with lots of action. The characters are abit light, but the plots fires along, and most readers of this thriller genre will enjoy it. I did.

I love these books. Sometimes Juan pulls off things and gets out of situations that make it un-believable. However putting that aside, this is a great book. Scott Brick does an excellent job with the narration. I can't wait for his next book.

Another fast-paced adventure story from Clive Cussler. It's a fun, fast read, weaving in thought-provoking reference plucked from current headlines: the US debt to China and how it could affect national security and foreign policy.

Someone must be reading reviews, because Scott Brick seems to be trying to improve his style. He tries not to let his voice rise at the end of every sentence, and succeeds about 90% of the time. Now, if he can get a grip on tone and pacing, he could redeem himself. There was a very entertaining joke in the book, but he read it the same way he reads every other sentence. I went back and listened again, and if he'd lightened up his tone and varied his pacing, the joke would have been more enjoyable -- and the listener wouldn't miss it either.

Still, for this book, his style is acceptable. I recommend Silent Sea.

I have read Cussler books for years and now i listen to them. I rank this one up at the top along with Fire Ice. I truely love the ending scene for this book. Juan is the biggest smart ass out there.

If you too are listening to this series I want to warn you that the next book "The Jungle" experiences a change in narrator. please see my review on that before you purchase the audio version. you may want to just read it in print.

I loved the plot, the characters, and all the twists and turns the book takes. The narrator is excellent, the voices and character he adds to the experience are unequalled. Don't "multi-task" while listening, like I did, you might miss something!

I am definitely a fan of Clive Cussler. I also like his books co-written with Jack du Bruhl. The stories always have an historically-based portion. Non-stop action without too much gore or lurid sex.

Cussler has a way of tying past history to current events. In this story it is a Chinese junk in Antarctica. Lots of action in all types of climate and locations. Great story. Looking forward to more by this author.
