"Astrid Lindgren has created a unique and lovable character, inspiring generations of children to want to be Pippi...Simply put, Pippi is irresistible." (Amazon.com)
"Still works for today's kids--even boys!"
It's hard to find good audiobooks for kids 5-7 years old. Picture books don't work on audio, and most chapter books are still a little hard for them to follow. Pippi Longstocking was already a decades-old book when I read it as a child in the mid 1970's, but my six-year-old son seems to like it just fine. We listened to it in the car on a long family trip, and we all enjoyed it. Pippi's wacky adventures, super strength, defiance of social norms (she doesn't go to school!) and good heart (she protects the weak kids from the bullies) apparently have timeless appeal.
"Entertaining"
Absolutely. My girls fell in love with Pippi after listening to the story. They have gone to the library and checked out more Pippi books.
Since the Pippi books are limited, we may listen to another Trixie Beldon book.

"A Classic Tale of the Strongest Girl in the World"
Known for her bright red pigtails and her super human strenth, Pippi Longstocking is a beloved classic book enjoyed by children and adults alike. You won't believe what she does in her adventures
I especially liked the way Esther Benson narrated the story with giggles,. coughing, and other things used in the dialogue. The Listening Library version of Pippi Longstocking is a must-have for literature lovers.
"Perfect for a nine year old"
The interesting story line.
Pippi of course! She never gets in trouble.
Easy to understand.
Here comes trouble
"My kids loved it."
I bought this for my girls to listen to on our road trip from Houston to Dallas. They injoyed it so much they listened to it again on the way home.
"great audiobook"
My six year old son loves listening to Pippi's adventures every evening.
"The narrator did it"
This is a great book for young girls, but it was destroyed by the narrator. She managed to suck all of the fun out of the book.
