"Larry I love ya..but"
Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish this book because of the narrator. I'm sure he would be a great replacement narrator for Casey Casem... but he simply doesn't cut the mustard for this book. It's more like he cuts the cheese.
I purchased "You're Broke because..." first. Then I purchased "It's Called Work". Both were read by you(Larry), so I was expecting this book to be read by you as well.
But... Larry..you already knew this didn't you. THAT's why YOU didn't use him for the other books!
If I'd just listened to the sample, or read the reviews I'd have known. But that's MY fault isn't it:-)
Bottom line to the readers of reviews. Leave this book alone until Larry reads it himself..or at least finds someone with a genuine understanding and belief in it's concepts. This guy is probably a nice guy, but this material is about truth...and sometimes the truth isn't nice at all.
"definitely different"
The author is straightforwardly, aggressively, candid. It's a different approach, but not an altogether bad one. The book is lengthy at times, but overall, worth a listen. The author is an acceptable narrator and I think the material is enhanced by his reading.
"Awesome"
Great book! I love Winget's straight forward, no BS style. His brash sense of humor makes the material memorable, not like the dry fact after fact presentation of some "self-help" books. Going back and listening again and again keeps your level of motivation high. So, "get off your butt" and give it a listen.
"get a life"
When you need a new direction. chose this book it will push you there. Awesome power here.
"Stop Whining and buy this book!"
I have read the book and now downloaded the audio version. I find his writing style very refreshing. Larry calls a spade a spade. No sugar coating. From dealing with the wife/girlfriend, to diets, to how to approach life. Always with insight, humor, and wit.
"Nothing new under the sun"
The author makes it clear that he gains most of his insight and understanding from reading books and listening to self help audio...just like the rest of us. Having read / listened to a few titles, I found nothing new except the admission that he'll try to be somewhat offensive in order to get our attention before dispensing the same prescriptions all the other authors have been giving for years.
"The reader"
The book was amazing! But the audio book was read by someone other than Larry Winget and really did not fit the title. He is not exciting or enthusiastic at all! I wish this would have been read by Larry himself. Overall, it has the information but if your thinking it will be as motivating as the book...WRONG! Stick with the book!!!
"7 habbits is trash."
Larry is a successful "joe plumber" who is trying to teach people what he has learned. He belongs in the same club with richard marcinko. I tried the "7 habbits" way and the "what color is your parachute " way. All that I got was an ulcer, and a divorce . Larry's way of teaching basic rules of life is refreshing. Now I work my ass off! I get respect. I have loyal custmomers. I have a strong marriage and I have a better relationship with money.
"Author Should Have Read It"
If you like this author, listen to this book first before his next one titled "It's Called Work For A Reason". The author, Winget, reads the other one himself, and for this material to sink in, it needs a powerful narrator such as himself. The Shut Up book is read by someone else and it just doesn't have the same impact. So, if you listen to the other book first, you will be highly disappointed. They should rerecord this book with Winget doing the audio. This is a much better read than audio version as a result.
"Best Book Ever Written!"
Everyone should read this!
The three reasons people are unsuccessful, and the self help industry is busy trying to make people feel good about being losers! HAHA:)
