The Sorcerer of the North: Ranger's Apprentice, Book 5

I love these books and am very displeased that two seem to be missing. I will buy the book ofcourse. I just wondered why this is?

This is a great book ruined by bad reading. I am sure he is good at other books but he just is not as good as John Keating. Buy the Other one; you will not regret it and you will not have to spend money twice on the same book. I gave this 3 stars for the book only.

Books are excellent - story is really good - narrator BAD. Sounds like he's trying to make Will into a guy from England with a messed up John Wayne accent. What a joke. Get the one with Keating - don't bother with this one...

The storyline was quite good. John Flanagan is still quite on his game. The characters develop more throughout each book. Will is really coming into his own, and it is interesting watching him develop throughout the series. However, as others have stated, the narrator just did not work for this story. Maybe it is because I am so used to hearing John Keating read the story. Stuart Blinder may have work quite well for other stories. He has a voice more for classical or romances. His voice was just too mellow and sleepy to narrate an adventure. I had a hard time making it through this reading.

Great story wrong narrator in Stuart. The story is good however it leaves so many years blank. Lost opportunities of showing us all the unique skills Will would have learned and the ever growing relationship with Halt.Other than that it is another great and interesting story. You will learn more of Will and his friends. Previous characters are developed more in this bookThe narrator, though good was totally the wrong accent for this story and especially following John Keating. I had to rebuy this book with the original narrator. You don't think it would matter, but it does.

So many, I was drawn in with the discovery of the dog. I laughed at the reaction Will had to the pretty girl in the Inn. I loved how Will decided to deal with the Skandians, so creative. I enjoyed his meeting with Alice and his resourcefulness with the thug. I enjoyed when Will and Halt were reunited in order to get his assignment. I enjoyed the description of Will's performance in the last Inn with his dog. I was on the edge of my seat while Will entered and proceeded into the woods with all the fog and menacing voices and lights. The meeting with the Sorcerer was titillating. Great story because these and more events are sprinkled through the whole story.

Maybe, it depends on the book. He was good just not right for this book and not after listening and getting use to the voices of the original. I hate when you don't stick with the same narrator all the way through. Just like another of your series where the second narrator said the names differently, aggghhh I hate that.

The change in narrator totally threw me off. I could not get into the story. Had to force myself to listen to the entire book so that I could move on to the next one, just to find out that Audible doesn't even have books 6 or 7.

It is with no disrespect that I write this review, however I must be honest.

I was disappointed and literally rechecked the download several times to make sure I had the right book. This book is not read like an active participant, but more like a third party and the narrator’s voice almost put me to sleep, so much so that I found the story hard to follow and could only listen in short increments.

I like the series so this is hard to write, but I’ve checked ahead and it seems this reading is a rarity and the next downloadable book is back to the style that sold me on the series.

I would definetely read this. The only problem is that the reader sounds weird and nothing like how i would think will would sound

The previous narrator was fine.

The narrator should at least keep to the pronunciations of the previous narrator.

Finally: WHAT HAPPENED TO BOOK #6 (

Stuart Blinder is a great narrator, don't get me wrong. But I feel he is wrong for this book, series. A classic like Moby Dick, or like wise stern novel serious and straight forward. But for a book with several deep characters, and jovial humor, he's just wrong for the part.
