"Being the bloodletters son says it all..."
This is the 5th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The series is darkly emotional and extremely erotic and sexual. I really love this series and its twist on vampires but you have to take the brothers as you get them which is not always pleasant! I get the feeling that some of the other reviewers had no history from reading the first 4 books and read this book on its own. In this books case it would be hard to understand and like on its own. This book is about Vishous and Jane and their story together. Vishous is a pretty messed up male. You learn alot about his upbringing in this book which helps you undertand why he is the way he is. It is about control and giving it up and learning to trust another. Though Vishous might have bisexual tendencies from his upbringing you realize he has confused his love of Butch for something else. Since Butch is the first person he has had feelings for in 300 years this is understandable. This isn't my favorite of the BDB books but still an excellent story even if I cringe some in parts! JR Ward is an excellent author and I like the narrator as he has a very masculine voice. He has done all of the books. His inflections don't change much between person to person though, especially with the females.
Don't skip this book as like all the other books there are alot of other sub-stories going on and you are introduced to characters that will play important roles in the 6th book. Also, don't listen to this book without starting at the beginning of the series as they are all on audible now.
"V will always be my fav"
This is an excellent book. While some people get turned off by the "homosexual undertones" they must be missing the big picture. This story does wonders for V and Butch not to mention JANE!! It really is a great story and some ppl may not like the S & M but that is part of life for some people. You need to have an open mind to enjoy the brothers to begin with so don't stop here. This is my fav book in the series hands down!!!
"Please read this book"
The narrator killed this one. I bought this audiobook on sale because I just wanted to hear my second fav again. Jim Frangione is a great narrator but not for the BDB. His voice has a nice smooth sound but the slang of the BDB just does not sound right coming out of his mouth. The story is great and it's hot as hell but it's definently better read than listened too.
"Just a great story"
I almost didn't buy this because of the book reviews from other places. All kinds of criticism about lack of romance, weird ending and too much violience. Honestly I think it was one of the best ones she's written. I really thought the story between Vishous and Jane was quite unique and compelling. People complained about the BDSM like it was 90% of the book. It was barely noticable. Yes, the ending was not traditional but these are fantasy books. Laughable to say that the HEA doesn't work because of Jane's condition. What drew me in was the relationship between Vischous and all the other characters. All the sub plots really enhanced this story too. The SV and the choice of Phury as the Primale set up the next book perfectly. I've already read Rhevenge and JMs stories and this feeds into it perfectly.
Love Ward's gritty writing. She's really ruined me fo the fluff kind of vampire books. These characters come to life with complex personalities and stories catch and hold my interest so completely. Can't wait to move onto Phury's story.
"The 2nd of my Fav Books"
You want messed up, some really off the wall romance, love and happy ending...this is the book. This is my second favorite brother of this series. Even though this series is a must read, this is definetly one you have to. So much background in this book, it helps understand so much of the series.
"Lover Unbound"
Loved this book. Love the series. Has hot and steamy love scenes and very graphic killing scenes. If this does not bother you than I recommend this series. Was shocked to find out J R Ward is a women.
"they keep getting better"
this book rocked! I laugh and cry. Great book
"Lover Unbound"
Vishous is the most human brother. I only have 3 more books to go and am anxious to "read", but I want to savor these delicious stories. I can I do both? J R Ward - you'll have to write more!
