Publisher's Summary

In this visionary book, Dennis Prager, one of America's most original thinkers, contends that humanity confronts a monumental choice. The whole world must decide between American values and its two oppositional alternatives: Islamism and European-style democratic socialism.

Prager - a bestselling author, columnist, and nationally syndicated radio talk show host who is read and heard by millions of people in America and abroad - makes the case for the American value system as the most viable program ever devised to produce a good society. Those values are explained here more clearly and persuasively than ever before.

Still the Best Hope deals with three huge themes: The first is perhaps the most persuasive explanation for why Leftism has been and will always be a moral failure, despite its acknowledged appeal to many people of goodwill. The second explains why fundamentalist Islam, despite its historic and growing appeal, cannot make a good society. But Prager holds out hope for an open and tolerant Islam and explains why it will emerge from faithful American Muslims. The third is a singularly persuasive defense and explanation of what Prager calls the "American Trinity": liberty, values rooted in the Creator, and the melting-pot ideal. These values are inscribed on every American coin as "Liberty," "In God We Trust," and "E Pluribus Unum," and they are the reasons for America's greatness. Without them, America will cease to be an exceptional nation, and therefore cease to be America.

Prager shows why these values can and must be adopted by every nation and culture in the world, why Americans must relearn and recommit to these values, and why America must vigorously export them. For if the world does not adopt American values, the result will be chaos and barbarism on an unprecedented scale.

    "Perfect!"
Would you listen to Still the Best Hope again? Why?

Of course, it is an elegant, insightful and thoroughly researched masterpiece on the most important issues of life. You can't go through it just once, it's meant to be long lasting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Still the Best Hope?

The most accurate definition of Leftism ever given.

Which character – as performed by Erik Bergman – was your favorite?

    It's non-fiction

If you could give Still the Best Hope a new subtitle, what would it be?

How to improve the world, one good person at a time

    Any additional comments?

If I had to recommend just one book about politics, values and how the world works, I'd recommend this one.

Prager's gift for clarity makes heavy and complicated topics surprisingly easy to read and understand.
Most people coast through life without giving much thought to issues of this book, if they all read it, none of them will ever be the same.

This is an eye opener like non other, backed with 400 footnotes, it's the Best Hope to create informed citizenry and improve the world, one good person at a time.

"An Important Book, should be required reading"
Would you consider the audio edition of Still the Best Hope to be better than the print version?

Due to the books significance in both content & research I purchsed the book after I listened to the audio. This book is reference material I will keep returning to.

What other book might you compare Still the Best Hope to and why?

Melanie Phillip's "A World Turned Upside Down." both books identify Islam & the Left as a religion and a threat to the survival of America and The West, however Melanie comes to the same conclusions from a different angle. She sees the Left's dogma as anti-enlightenment & she does not come to American values as the solution as does Dennis. Both books are outstanding & must reads in order to understand the great forces destroying Western values & The West.

If you could give Still the Best Hope a new subtitle, what would it be?

Why the West needs American values in order for liberty to prevail

    Any additional comments?

This book would have been perfect if Dennis read it himself.

    "What a great new perspective"
What made the experience of listening to Still the Best Hope the most enjoyable?

This was a view into why the Left and Muslim Extremist and why they believe as they do. It is enlightening to me to understand why good people on all sides of the political aisle view the world as they do.

    "American Ideals on Endangered List"
Would you listen to Still the Best Hope again? Why?

yes-lot of info, facts to absorb

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Human beings, left to their own devices, without sound moral consensus or faith based foundations,at the very least a higher power, become creatures of immense capacity for self-indulgence,reduced creativity, and loss of uniqueness intended for mankind as part of the purpose and hope in Creation.

What does Erik Bergman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Easy to get lost reading a long book-audio narrative kept my interest.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wanted to get to finish, but needed breaks to process info.

    Any additional comments?

Listened to on car trip-stll found engrossing.

"A must read for truth seekers with open minds"
What did you love best about Still the Best Hope?

Dennis observes and explains the political and ideological divides in today's American society with clarity and conciseness without any ad hominem attacks or offensive language at all. He is diligent to appeal to reason and logic with a clear understanding that both sides of an ideology have a deep love for America, and often for each other, especially within families such as his own. He examines the intentions and the results of those intentions from a mature and experienced, end-to-end viewpoint. A very thorough, well thought out, evenhanded, fair and balanced discussion about timeless truths and the character of human kind that reinforces America's founding father's reasons for the construction of a miraculous government of check and balances. Dennis focuses a lot of attention on understanding the difference between good and evil and the need to acknowledge this eternal truth.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Still the Best Hope?

Clarification of the difference between goodness and innocence when discribing children and humans in general.

Have you listened to any of Erik Bergman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    N/A

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    America's great divide

    Any additional comments?

Well worth the time for developement of understanding the world's ideologies today.

"first class treatment of the liberal left."

All in our nation who struggle to understand the obvious fall of our culture and try to understand the mindset and attitudes of those who are 'remaking it'.will know the sea of books on this subject.though there are many good ones, most do not reach to the first principles needed to understand an attitude and philosophy that is absent from ones mind and heart personaly. This is one of only a few that I have found that trully lays out these first principles..[george rochs'a world without heroes' and all of g.k. chesterton are a few].I highly recommend this book as well as his book on happiness....Enjoy fellow Americans and brothers and sisters under our Father.

"Irrefutable arguments against the "leftist" view."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, the conservatives would love it and the "leftists" desperately need it.

What did you like best about this story?

Prager doesn't just give his views, he backs up each point with hard facts and examples.

If you could give Still the Best Hope a new subtitle, what would it be?

Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Or - So you think your elitists are smarter than all those elitists who've tried collectivism before?

    Any additional comments?

What's the use? Conservatives already know and the leftists will hide their eyes and cover their ears... again.
