Firestorm: Destroyermen, Book 6

It has been my experience that some series suffer from drag. This book is even more high paced that the earlier ones. The books keep getting better and better, more story lines, unexpected twist, triumphs mixed with defeats. Taylor does an excellent job of blending a wonderful concept with the lives and experiences of his characters. What a purely exciting story. Has me longing for the next one already.

The Destroyermen series is among my favorites in my audiobook library.

I love William Dufris' work with the Destroyermen series. It is difficult for me to immerse myself in his other performances because when I hear a character in some of his other works all I can think to myself is,

I downloaded this the first day it was available from Audible. I was finished with it three days later and started right from the beginning again. I did the same thing with Distant Thunders and Rising Tides.

There are people that like to read stories and then sit down to analyze, parse, nitpick, and discuss how the craft of the writing process. I cannot express how much I do not want to have dinner with such people.

This book even surpasses book three in the amount of action involved. A great mix of all emotions in this one. Taylor does an exceptional job in telling an exciting and gripping story of three major battles going on at the same time. The narrator is great. I hope the production company does not make the mistake of other series and change narrators. Taylor writes and Dufris narrates an exceptional story. I can only think of one thing for Taylor Anderson to change....don't wait so long for the next book!

Duris Reading is voices made this book for me. the story is a cliff hanger.

Can't wait for Book 7 to come out. I read lisened to the other stories in my library ( all 5 of them again and head somethings I messed. great month.) this is not just a ship / WWII book it's need to be a movie.

Usually, by the 6th book of a series I am running out of enthusiasm for the next book. However, this book left me looking forward to the next book in the series. This book series paints a wonderful story of life in an alternate timeline. The author strikes a great balance between character development and plot development. I really have enjoyed this series so far.

Taylor Anderson has weaved a great story here. There is a lot of detail and thought put into this story and it ranges from the mundane to the obvious. This installment moves the story along as it should and it brings new characters into the lime light while keeping the main characters at the spear point. This is a huge story about a small group trapped in a different world. I love this idea and the way it's being laid out. One of the best things for me is watching and reading how the author has grown in his skill and craft over these novels. If you haven't read the other books start there first and enjoy the series.

Great continuation of series. As with all the Destroyer Men series fast paced and interesting plot twists like trained Bombardier Pterodactyls.

Can things get worse? For the crew of Walker and her allies, the only answer is yes. Now solidly engaged in a two front war against opponents that individually outnumber the entire alliance, the scope of this story continues to grow (my biggest concern is that every books seems to be making the scope bigger! There really doesn't appear to be an end in sight).

Now forced to stave off an attack by the Holy Dominion while simultaneously continuing to strike at the Grik, the story is steadly expanding to a global scope. The focus of this book is the expansion of air. Both by the HD with their trained attack flying Grik and by the Grik themselves with the introduction of Zeppelins developed by the Japanese cruisermen.

The best part is the Captain Reddy finally gets to be reunited with his love, even if just for a little while.

I would have given this 5 stars across the board as I love this series and the author ( a nice fellow, BTW, I have exchanged email with him regarding e-book availability).

Maybe it is just me, but I always find it distracting when a book that contains both male and female characters has only a male or only a female narrator. It tends to take one out of the story and therefore impacts negatively on the book.

For some books (mostly non-fiction) where there are no real characters, it does not matter what the sex of the narrator is, as long as they are good, but for most fiction both a male and a female narrator are needed. I know it costs more and I, for one, would be willing to pay more!

So I may buy the next book in the series in eBook form unless the narration is properly split.

I really enjoyed earlier books in the series, but this one moves too slowly, has too many characters, too many ships, too many locations. I find it difficult to follow, way too much dialogue and not enough character interaction or development. Much of the story revolves around discussing tactics. The actual action sequences, as usual, are engaging and enjoyable, but there is not enough action and too much blather. I don't like this one as well as the previous books. Pity.
