The severed head marked by a distinctive tattoo on its cheek should have been a Guild case, but dark instincts honed over hundreds of years of life compel the vampire Dmitri to take control. There is something twisted about this death, something that whispers of centuries long past... but Dmitri's need to discover the truth is nothing to the vicious strength of his response to the hunter assigned to decipher the tattoo.
Savaged in a brutal attack that almost killed her, Honor is nowhere near ready to come face to face with the seductive vampire who is an archangel's right hand, and who wears his cruelty as boldly as his lethal sensuality... the same vampire who has been her secret obsession since the day she was old enough to understand the inexplicable, violent emotions he aroused in her.
As desire turns into a dangerous compulsion that might destroy them both, it becomes clear the past will not stay buried. Something is hunting - and it will not stop until it brings a blood-soaked nightmare to life once more.

"Dimitri's story is very compelling"
Nalini Singh is up there as one of my favorite authors. This book did not disappoint. Dimitri's story is very tragic and it really helps you understand who he is today. Honor's story is horrific as well.
I love the idea of these two broken people finding each other and making a life together. The twist at the end did not bother me as it is a great way to give each of the characters a second chance to get it right.
I've heard some complain about the lack of sexual tension between Dimitri and Honor. I think this is a story in which it will build over time. This is a tentative dance between them and if there were overly romantic at the beginning, I don't think it would be true to their characters.
I'd love to hear more about their developing relationship in future books. I think another book on them would provide the opportunity expand on their story. Most of this book was about settling old scores and renewing their love. It was a terrific read and I've listened to it several times.
On the narrator, I love Justine Eyre's voice. I can't imagine anybody else reading Singh's books so well.
"Liked the book"
I am so glad you guys have multiple ways of rating. I really liked the book and this series. I did NOT like the narrator. For some reason the men's voices sounded okay, but the voices of the women ALL sounded like they were crying. All of the female voices sounded the same with a tremble in every sentence. Very annoying!
"Not for the faint of heart, but AMAZING"
First off... I love Nalini Singh. I've loved reading the books and I've loved listening to them as I catch things I didn't in the reading.
As for Archangel's Blade - don't start the series here. This is the 4th book and there is a lot of back story from the other three books that just adds depth to this book. I have a hard time imagining that this would be as good without having the other three books as a base to what Dmitri, in particular, is like. (Bonus: I LOVE how Nalini Singh is able to be true to the original character she developed through the three previous books, yet add more depth to him without changing him dramatically for this book).
Another note - The Guild Hunter Series is violent. Personally, I think it fits the world that she has created in these books, but this book is NOT for the faint of heart. If you loved the Psy-Changeling Series, this series is much darker but in some ways more compelling than the other. I love them both in different ways. Can't wait to read and listen to all of her new titles.
"Wow...."
So far this is my FAVORITE book by Nalini Singh...and I have listened to many! It was the perfect blend of Love and Sex! I thought the first book in the Guild Hunter Series was good...This by far is the best...I am a huge fan of Dimitri's now...too bad he is already taken....LOL! Definately a must read of you are a Guild Hunter Series Fan!
"An un expected pleasure!"
Dimitri's story is well written, with a strong story line and some intriguing glimpses of possible other books to come( I can't wait!) I've listened to this one twice already and will do so again. I do think a different narrator would have made this better- when she is trying to express Dimitri's dark, fatalistic humour/outlook, Ms Eyre sounds nasal and her voice makes him sound like a dolt.
Thank you, Ms Singh! I eagerly look forward to your next book.
"STEAMY!!!!!"
This story is about the devilish Dmitiry, and Oh my goodness I can't believe the sex scenes. So explicit. As if I am in the room. And Honor, well lets just say I thought Elena was kick ass, I think Honor is supernatural. This is the kind of book, I could listen to again and again. And it will never get old. The narration is great quality.
The best part about this book is the way Nalini Singh pulled me right into the book by the very first page. I am so hooked and can't wait to listen to the next one!
"Another Engrossing Vampire/Hunter Story"
I think the story is interesting enough and the characters so well developed, that I'm sure I will listen to it again one day. The Psy/Changling stories are such favorites, I didn't expect to enjoy these Arch angel, Vampire and Hunter stories as much as I do.
I've wanted to hear Demetri's story from the beginning. His back story and this present love story does not disappoint.
No one scene stands out, but the unfolding of the story and relationships keeps me involved until the very end.
I listen to books as I travel hours for business in my car. Nalini Singh's books get me so involved I can miss an exit ramp... but hopefully I'm still a safe driver. It makes the ride seem so much shorter.
"Good twist on Love Strory"
I have recommended this book to a number of people, It's really good on detailing the characters and making you interested.
I found this book to be a surprising good love story, great build up and you really want these characters to get together.
All it took was one listen and I knew I was going to need to hear the emotions of these characters plus Justine does a very good job as Demitri - this is my favorite so far of the series.
I really liked how Demitri's character deals with Honor when he believes he is being deceived.
This book really has a strong love story and shows us more on how and why Rafael and Demitri are so close and how their bond was made. Your going to love how Demitri pushes the envelope with Honor but knows when he has gone to far.
"Now I like Dimitri, never thought I would"
Have liked all the Archangel books, but have never cared much for the character of Dimitri. This was a great story to see him in a different light. Now, we know why he is, the way he is. Still ruthless, but there is a heart in there too. It's a good love story, along with a crime drama in finding yet another rampaging supernatural murderer. It was a nice change from having so much of the story devoted to Raphael and Elena. Elena was pretty much absent in this book, but still had the same cast of characters.
The narrator has a somewhat irritating voice when telling the story, but I also think she does the different voices very well.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
"A Good Guild Hunter Novel"
I really liked this novel but I will admit to having a little mixed feelings during the listening. It involved some scenes that were disturbing to listen to (scenes including all kinds of abuse: physical, sexual and emotional) so be warned. These scenes were backstory that was needed but still a little hard to listen to at times. I loved the varying plot lines that were integrated in to the story. I liked the way Singh brought Honor and Dmitri together but I sort of wish the Ingred/Honor link wasn't part of it. It seemed like Dmitri had already come to love Honor on his own without that link though so I was happy with their HEA.
