Publisher's Summary

Desire is in the blood... Jillian Conrad never believed in vampires. But she's just become a living, breathing weapon against them. Attacked by a desperate scientist, she is injected with a serum that was supposed to act as a deadly poison to vampires. And when the scientist is gunned down in front of her, his secrets die with him. Declan Reyes is only half-vampire, but he hates them with all his heart. He knows that the poison in Jillian's veins could finally destroy the undead kingdom. Also, the serum has had an unintended effect, making her blood irresistible to all vampires---including Declan, whose bloodthirsty traits are driven into a frenzy by her. Driven by duty to protect her and by instinct to crave her, Declan takes Jillian into his shadowy world of blood and battle. But he soon realizes his increasing need for her may be a different kind of hunger...

    "Good Listen"

I was skeptical at first, when this was purchased, and now I'm glad I did, the narrator was excellent and the story line had several twist and turns that made the story. I will absolutely listen to book 2.

    "I wish I'd read it."
If you could sum up Nightshade in three words, what would they be?

New - The idea isn't one I've seen or heard before.
Unpredictable - The story rarely went the way I expected. It was great.
Cliff hanger - Definitely left me ready for the second book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nightshade?

The deflowering of Declan was quite memorable.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

You could clearly hear the moods of the characters, but couldn't tell which character was speaking. She used several voices interchangeably for all the characters.

    "great read"
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, i read this series all in one sitting. The first book was so entertaining that i had to purchase the second book. I love Cynthia Holloway as a narrator, she makes this book easy to listen to. The story was good, hard to predict, and different from other vampire books.

    "One cliche after another."

Sorry, didn't like it and fast forwarded it to the end. Heroine was ok, tough guy ok at first then he turns whimpy, and honestly...why are all the heroes built like tanks and hung like horses? Just too predictable for me.
