She looked into the dead face of the man she'd dined with the night before...
Standing over the body of a Supreme Court nominee, Lieutenant Sam Holland is hip-deep in another high-profile murder case. The fact that she was one of the last people to see Julian Sinclair alive just complicates things even more. On the plus side, her relationship with Senator Nick Cappuano is heating up - but it's also attracting a lot of unwanted media attention and blinding flash bulbs.
The pressure is on for Sam to find Sinclair's killer, but a new lead in her father's unsolved shooting puts her in unexpected danger. When long-buried secrets threaten to derail her relationship with Nick, Sam realizes that, while justice can be blind, mixing romance with politics has the potential to be fatal.

"Wow...a must read"
I am a long time audio book listener. This is my first review. I am very impressed. It is easy to love the two main characters. There is a wonderful story, a family you can believe, "family values" that are real and have been tested. There is love, romance and some wonderful sex. It is a full service story. Marie Force seems to be a relatively new author and I predict we will see a lot of her soon.
I hope she keeps Sam and Nick around for a very long time. I am hooked.
Read them in order.
"good story"
Possibly. I liked the whole series.
Probably not. She reads okay, but I didn't like her voice. It doesn't match the character. The narrators from the other books in the series were much for fitting for Sam.
It would have been , if the voice didn't bug me.
I read so I can write
"Good but not great"
This book is good but it isn't on the same level of amazing as the first one. The continued development of the primary characters in the series works, but story doesn't have the great mystery of the first. It is still definitely worth the credit and the listen.
"Outstanding romantic suspense!"
An excellent follow-up to "Fatal Affair". The relationship between Samantha and Nick heats up as Sam investigates the murder of a Supreme Court nominee.
"Too much romance"
I thought I was downloading a mystery not something with sex scenes, christian guilt by a 29 year old losing his virginity with angst over abortion to where the murder seems secondary to the emotions of the primary characters. If I had wanted emotional breakdowns and inability to commit to romantic relationships I'd have bought a romance.
"the tittle is very misleading"
way too much sex and romance . I did not make it past the 5th chapter ,there was little to no substance just sex. if you like soft porn then this is the book for you . for me it was a wasted credit.
"Mystery or sex novel............"
Someone who needs to live an explicit sex life through someone elses eyes........
Stick with the story and let us use our own imaginations for the sexual parts.......way overboard.........
Yes, and she does a nice job of narrating........
The story was interesting if you could move around all the sex.....
You seem like you are a good writer, try writing something that is more meat and less fluff!
"Hard to Listen"
Very low, mainly because of the performance. I had a hard time telling characters apart.
Somewhat
not sure....anybody

"Very good book that kept my interest till the end"
Another good plot that just fell in place and kept me in suspense, I just couldn't put the book down until I had finished it If you don't have the series, they are well worth the credit's. I only have the last two to go., you will not be dissapointed in any of the book's.,
